WWE News: Major Update on 2 New Main Events Planned for WrestleMania 28

Drake OzJan 26, 2012

Everyone has a WrestleMania 28 card in their heads, whether it’s realistic or not.

Most of those realistic cards have already penciled in two huge matches for the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year: The Undertaker defending “The Streak” against Triple H and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE championship.

Well, you might want to grab your erasers.

After speaking to several sources, WZ has learned that new talk has surfaced within WWE regarding WrestleMania 28 plans.

Contrary to what has been previously reported, it appears that The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho and Triple H vs. CM Punk are the two big matches currently being discussed.

WWE is aware that due to online reports, fans have been expecting the tentative plan for Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk at Mania, and while those plans have not been scrapped by any means, officials have discussed a creative shake-up. In addition to the internet motive, there is belief internally that more could have been done in the past between CM Punk and Triple H.

This is yet another classic case of the WWE switching up storylines after they leak out on the Internet, but I have no real problem with the changes made here.

I agree that more could have done between Triple H and Punk during their last feud in 2011, so perhaps we’ll get a better match between the two if they face off at WrestleMania 28, especially if the WWE title is on the line.

I’m sure Triple H will take some heat from us fans for “inserting himself into a title match,” but I’d much rather see Triple H wrestle Punk again then have him face The Undertaker for a third time at WrestleMania.

Count me in for The Undertaker vs. Jericho, too.

Taker and Y2J surprisingly haven’t crossed paths during their careers as much as you might think, so a match between the two on the grandest stage of them all could be an unforgettable encounter.

I’m sure they’d tear the house down, and Jericho trying to end The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak would fit in well with his whole “the end of the world as you know it” spiel. Plus, Jericho could afford the loss, and it would prevent the WWE from having Taker beat an up-and-comer and killing his momentum.

I wouldn’t bank on these matches happening, though, because according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com), Taker vs. Triple H is still on tap for WrestleMania 28.

Man, I guess we really don’t know what’s going to happen, do we?
