César Azpilicueta

According to Pete O'Rourke at Sky Sports, Marseille right-back César Azpilicueta has welcomed Chelsea's interest in him. 

Why Chelsea should sign Azpilicueta

He's a solid tackler, reads the play well and is a better defender than José Bosingwa. 

A few months ago against Paris Saint-Germain, I witnessed potentially one of the greatest defensive performances this season. 

Azpilicueta made six successive tackles and intercepted the ball 12 times. Yes, 12 times. 

To put things into context, he dominated Nenê, PSG's best player. 

Potentially, Azpilicueta could be a younger version of Albert Ferrer, who was a solid right-back for Chelsea. 

Why Chelsea shouldn't sign Azpilicueta

His contract ends in 2014, so it would economically smarter for Chelsea to submit a bid during the summer transfer window or next year's summer transfer window. 

Assuming Azpilicueta wants to be a Chelsea player, he'll run down his contract, giving Chelsea the upper hand in negotiations. 

Chelsea give themselves no leverage if they make a bid this month, because he'll come at a premium. 

Will Chelsea sign Azpilicueta this month? 

No.

Marseille are not going to jeopardise their campaign by letting Azpilicueta leave. 

Especially when the backup is Rod Fanni, who is mediocre at best. 

Lucas Ocampos

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are following the progress of 17-year-old River Plate winger Lucas Ocampos.

I've never seen Ocampos play nor did I know who he was until today, so I'll defer to Buenos Aires-based football journalist Daniel Colasimone:

 The young Argentinian is physically imposing at 1.87m and 80kg. He is also a prodigious dribbler who enjoys taking on his marker. Most notable is his pace. Fast as a jackrabbit, Ocampos can burst past defenders on the left wing before cutting inside or laying passes in to teammates.

He favours his right side when dribbling, though like any Argentinian attacking player worth his salt he possesses a powerful, accurate shot with either foot.

Having already bought Lucas Piazón, Chelsea need more incisive young players like Ocampos.

Interestingly, three of the four league goals he has scored, have been headers. 

Why Chelsea shouldn't sign Ocampos

He's just 17 and it's more beneficial for him to play professional football with River Plate than playing reserve games at Cobham. 

Will Chelsea sign Ocampos this month? 

No. 

Assuming what Colasimone has said is not an exaggeration, River Plate have a superstar on their hands, so they'll hold onto him, like Santos holding onto Neymar.  

Marek Hamšík

According to The Metro, Marek Hamšík's agent believes it's only logical for Napoli to accept a bid from Chelsea.

An efficient shooter given he's scored six league goals from 25 shots. 

His incisive passing combined with Ezequiel Lavezzi's dribbling and Edinson Cavani's brilliance makes Napoli's triumvirate so formidable. 

Why Chelsea shouldn't sign Hamšík

Why not just play Juan Mata centrally? 

Of Napoli's triumvirate, Hamšík is the weakest, and if there is anyone from the three that Chelsea should sign—it's Edinson Cavani.

Will Chelsea sign Hamšík this month? 

No. 

Napoli will be praying that Chelsea play the high line therefore allowing Hamšík to split André Villas-Boas' defence piece by piece.

Napoli believe they can knock Chelsea out of the UEFA Champions League, so they won't sell Hamšík. 

Plus, if Hamšík excels because of the high line, then his transfer fee would rise. 

Medo Kamara

According to The Sun, Partizan Belgrade midfielder Medo Kamara prefers a move to Chelsea.

There are no reasons to sign him.

Looking at his game log, I did watch him play against Arsenal, but I don't remember him. 

The only Partizan player that impressed me was Cléo.

Evidently he also impressed Guangzhou Evergrande as China's answer to Manchester City offered him a lucrative contract. 

Avram Grant has just taken over Partizan and if Kamara is a class midfielder, then Grant will not let him go. 

Will Chelsea sign Kamara this month? 

No, because Chelsea do not need him. 

Hulk

According to the Daily Mail, Porto forward Hulk insists a move away is possible.

Hulk, who is contracted to 2016, said:

You never know what tomorrow will bring, but if one day there was an attractive offer for me and the club, there would be no problem to reach an agreement, as long as it is amicable.

Why Chelsea should sign Hulk

Didier Drogba may be as strong as Hulk, but the Ivorian is nowhere near as skillful or technical as the Brazilian. 

The blend of strength and finesse is the reason why Porto value Hulk in astronomical proportions. 

We're talking about £84 million. 

Why Chelsea shouldn't sign Hulk

There's only one player in the world that you'd buy for £84million and can guarantee that he'd be the reason why you won the UEFA Champions League—Lionel Messi. 

Mind you, if Hulk is worth £84million, Messi is worth at least triple or even quadruple that. 

Will Chelsea sign Hulk this month? 

Barring another jaw-dropping and inflated transfer fee, I doubt Chelsea would even contemplate about signing Hulk for £35 million-plus. 

Kevin De Bruyne

According to John Edwards at the Daily Mail, Chelsea are close to securing a deal to sign Genk winger Kevin De Bruyne in the summer for £8 million.

Talented young winger with good dribbling ability. 

He's a Chelsea supporter like Romelu Lukaku and wants to join the club. 

De Bruyne has also been complaining about Genk not letting him to Chelsea, so it's highly likely that he'll be a Chelsea player by next year. 

Why Chelsea shouldn't sign De Bruyne

There are no reasons.

If it's for £8 million, then it's worth the risk.

No, because it seems Genk will verbally commit to selling De Bruyne in the summer. 

Miloš Krasić

According to Jason Burt at The Telegraph, Juventus winger Miloš Krasić is a certain target for Andre Villas-Boas.

Krasić is an excellent dribbler and will provide width and drag opposing players out of position.

It's a red flag when Juventus are playing their best football without Krasić.

Simone Bargellini at Sky Sports reported that no English club have submitted a bid for Krasić. 

Yet, Juventus' chief executive Giuseppe Marotta made it clear that Krasić was staying "for now."

Eden Hazard

According to Jamie Sanderson at The Metro, Chelsea will submit a £25 million bid for Eden Hazard, even though Lille have it made clear they will not sell.

His dribbling is a sight for sore eyes and he can make incisive passes.

This point last year, Chelsea paid £50 million to Liverpool for Fernando Torres, when most people believed he wouldn't leave Anfield—especially in January. 

If Chelsea submit a £40 million bid to Lille, there is no way that the French club would refuse. 

Is Hazard worth £40 million? 

Not now, but he could transition into a world class footballer. 

The question is, does he want to join Chelsea?

Paul Pogba

According to Steve Bates and Alan Nixon at People.co.uk, Chelsea will launch a £3 million bid amidst Paul Pogba's refusal to sign a new Manchester United contract.

If Romelu Lukaku and Josh McEachran cannot get consistent minutes, why is Pogba any different? 

He has yet to break into Manchester United's first team and now he is strong-arming management. 

Imagine how difficult it would be to deal with him when he transitions into a first team regular.

If Chelsea sign Pogba, they won't be able to loan him out until the start of the new season, because he cannot be registered for three clubs in the same transfer window.

No.

Manchester United only need to look at the Manchester City-Daniel Sturridge fiasco as a reason to give in to Pogba's demands for a better contract.
