Australian Open TV Schedule: Matches and Bracket Guide for Jan. 17

The 2012 Australian Open is finally under way—marking the start of the "meat" of the year's jam-packed tennis schedule.

The 100th edition of the Grand Slam tournament got off to a rousing start on Monday. Big names like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Caroline Wozniacki and Li Na led most of the favorites into the second round. 

Not all of the seeded stars were so fortunate, though.

On the men's side, No. 22 Fernando Verdasco, No. 25 Juan Monaco, No. 28 Ivan Ljubicic and No. 31 Jurgen Melzer all bowed out on day one.

On the women's side, No. 19 Flavia Pennetta, No. 24 Lucie Safarova and No. 28 Yanina Wickmayer went down early.

Tuesday's action features another exciting slate of matches. Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick are headlining yet another fantastic field.

The Tennis Channel will carry the action between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. before ESPN2 takes over from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. EST. You can also catch every game, set and match on DirecTV through the Australian Open Experience.
