Liverpool have endured some frustrating results so far this season. Be it because of lack of quality, hitting the woodwork, injuries, suspensions or all of the above.

The suspension of Luis Suarez and the poor form of the Reds in front of net is certainly contributing to their annoyance, but now is high time for the new owners to continue to invest on improvements.

A host of players are being linked with the Reds, and here is a rundown of the latest rumors out of the mill.

Eric Abidal

Liverpool have been reported by Metro to be in a battle to sign Barcelona's Eric Abidal.

The Reds' rumored competition are Arsenal and Manchester City, as they all look to bring the 32-year-old veteran to the English Premier League.

Keisuke Honda

CSKA Moscow 25-year-old Japanese international midfielder Keisuke Honda has been rumored to be a major Reds target, according to Talksport.

The Russian Premier League side are said to be warning the Reds that he is unavailable, but that may only strengthen the resolve to sign the young winger that has impressed on multiple occasions in the UEFA Champions League.

Lazar Markovic

The Daily Mail has linked the Liverpool Reds with a swoop for Lazar Markovic of Partizan Belgrade.

The youngster has been likened to a young Michael Owen, and the Reds could do with that kind of fresh hungry player upfront.

Salomon Kalou

Chelsea are looking to offload supersub winger Salomon Kalou, as he is becoming increasingly more of a fringe player not in the plans for Andre Villas-Boas.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has attempted to rubbish any rumors that Liverpool have any chance of signing away striker Darren Bent.

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool are conducting talks with Jackson Martinez and his current club, Jaguares, as the Colombian international is a believed target for the Reds.

Mauro Zarate

The player burst onto the scene with SS Lazio in recent seasons, as well as impressing at Birmingham City in 2008. His loan at the San Siro with Inter has only made him a more popular target for clubs.
