MMA Strikeforce: Tyron Woodley Will Walk Through Jordan Mein

Dale De SouzaJan 7, 2012

Jordan Mein looks like a fantastic kid, but even though he's 23-7 as a pro fighter, the 22-year-old has a lot to learn.

At least, that is what many will have you believe when it comes to his MMA Strikeforce bout against Tyron Woodley.

Many say Mein will break out and show the world that the hype is worth the show when it comes to his claim of being one of Canada's next big stars in MMA, but Woodley's wrestling, ground-and-pound and underrated knockout power all protest against the belief of a Mein win.

The wide concern about Woodley is twofold: Fans have begun to truly question if the man can strike and they feel as though he gasses out a bit earlier than originally believed.

However, Woodley's cardio should hold up very well against Mein, who has fought impressive names but has yet to be truly tested in the wrestling and takedown realm as Woodley will look to test Mein.

Some people have convinced themselves that Mein will have no problem in that area and that he'll likely be difficult to keep down, even if Woodley does manage in one format or another to get Mein down.

But when a man deals with a guy that explodes with takedowns as Woodley does, even a scrambler will be stuck in a highly uncomfortable position, not totally unlike the ones in which Woodley will want to put Mein.

Yes, Mein is a young stallion on the rise, but he's running head-first into the Tyron Woodley freight train.

Even Paul Daley could not step in front of that train without getting smacked by it—what makes Mein so certain that he will fare any differently?
