Every wrestling fan has a dream match that they would love to see. Some dream matches have happened, such as Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock and the disappointing Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg.
I've been putting a lot of thought into what I believe to be the top 10 dream matches, looking at more than just the top names, and trying to think of wrestlers that would mesh up well together.
Some of these you've likely thought of yourself; some may even leave you scratching your heads, but that's the joy of lists.
This is a match I always hoped would happen. Savage was considered a major workhorse in the company during the Hogan era, much like Triple H was considered a workhorse during the attitude era.
Both men got times at the top, but were generally used to help hold things together and keep guys pushed to the top. The two both have a very rough aggressive style and know how to take the crowd on a wild ride.
The promos would have been priceless to see.
These two men are generally the first to come to mind when talking about wrestlers with great minds for the business. They both have a dark style and can make people listen without raising their voices.
Raven’s gimmick would allow for a lengthy feud between the two that may not include the best matches in the world, but would tell an amazing story.
Two names that always come up when discussing the greatest tag teams of all time are Team 3D and The Legion of Doom.
Bubba and Devon have won more tag team championships than any other team in the history of wrestling. The Legion of Doom dominated the tag team division everywhere they went.
Both teams know how to brawl. Toss aside the rulebook and this match could have been an instant classic.
Taz vs. Taz 2.0. Samoa Joe’s gimmick in TNA has been extremely similar to the gimmick owned by Taz in ECW.
Years before fans chanted “Joe is gonna kill you,” they were chanting the same thing in reference to Taz.
This would have been a brutal matchup, but it would have also been one to remember.
The Showstopper vs. The Great One.
There is a documented history between the two, with Shawn allegedly trying to sabotage the Rock early in his career by telling Vince that Rocky didn’t have what it takes to make it in the WWE.
The electricity that these two men could pull out of each other would have made for a match that could steal the show on any card.
Kurt and Bret both have great amateur wrestling backgrounds. Angle is an Olympic gold medalist, while Hart won several amateur awards in Canada before moving into the world of professional wrestling.
Both men also are recognized as two of the greatest pure wrestlers ever to step foot into the world of WWE. This may not be the flashiest match possible, but I doubt anybody could come up with a more technically sound match.
Who is truly the greatest giant in the history of pro wrestling? Long before his WrestleMania 3 match against Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant was a surprisingly agile giant, pulling off moves that were hard for many average men to pull off.
The Big Show is a surprisingly athletic giant, even coming off the top rope on occasion. They are very similar in size and would have been a technical nightmare, but the sheer size of the two men would have sold this match in any era.
John Cena is the modern-day answer to Hogan, so it is only natural that the two would be a dream match.
Cena’s “five moves of doom” is very similar to Hogan’s “atomic leg drop of doom” and his “Hulking up”.
One has to wonder if Cena’s Attitude Adjustment would cause Hogan to start shaking and stomping around the ring, and if Hogan’s leg drop would result in Cena kicking out and battling back to hit the five knuckle shuffle on the Hulkster.
The world may never know.
This match came up around this time last year and had fans excited in a big way.
Sting vs. Undertaker is a dream match for any fan who grew up watching the Monday Night Wars.
The Deadman vs. The Icon is a match that is unlikely to ever happen, but we can keep on dreaming about it…right?
Forget about Cena and The Rock. The straightedge superstar vs. the beer drinking Texas rattlesnake is a story that tells itself. The two are very similar, yet could not be more opposite of each other.
I know some people think Randy Orton vs. Austin would be a perfect match with the “viper” vs. “rattlesnake” aspect being their reason.
The two are similar, but CM Punk is that gritty fighter who will tell you he is going to beat you down, then do it, just like Austin.
This match is still one we can hope for, and if it ever does happen, it will likely be remembered as one of the most important matches in wrestling history.
I'm sure there are going to be many disagreements with my list, so feel free to post up your own top 10....and the last slide here is just to do something.
