LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant: 5 Reasons King James Is Better Than Durant

0 of 5

When asked who is the best basketball player in the NBA today, most answer with two names:

    LeBron James or Kevin Durant.

James and Durant are two of the most lethal forces the NBA has ever seen.

James, a two-time MVP, is known for his brute force and superb athletic play. Durant is known for his ability to score in bunches and hit the clutch shot.

The two are great players, but one does indeed stand above the other.

This slideshow shows why LeBron James is a better player than Kevin Durant, and it's not even close.

5) Better Rebounding Abilities

1 of 5

LeBron James and Kevin Durant both play the same position, small forward, but Durant holds a two-inch height advantage over James.

Durant has been in the NBA five seasons, but his rebounding numbers actually declined last season. He is often out-muscled and moved around in the paint by bigger small forwards, which contributes to his lower rebounding numbers.

LeBron James averaged eight rebounds per contest last season, while Durant was behind at seven.

4) Better Passing Abilities

This area is really a no-brainer.

LeBron James is heralded as one of the best passers in the NBA. James' court vision is unmatched. He is able to get his teammates involved in the game far better than Kevin Durant.

Just for stats' sake, James averaged seven assists per contest, while Durant averaged three.

3) Defense

Here is another no-brainer on the defensive end.

LeBron James is a first-team All-NBA defender. When last year's MVP was shooting bad jumpers in the Eastern Conference Finals, James was the defender. He can shut down any position on the court.

    Durant, not so much.

Kevin Durant has yet to bring anything to the defensive end of the table, a major flaw in making him a complete player a la LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade.

2) Scoring Efficiency

Kevin Durant has won the NBA's scoring title the last two seasons.

At this point, many Kevin Durant fans will say "HA, LeBron's not better than Durant in scoring."

Yes, Durant averaged more points than James last season, 27.7 to 26.7.

James, however shot 51 percent to Durant's 46 percent.

James scores easier and more efficiently without taking as many shots as KD.

1) Numbers Don't Lie

5 of 5

With the addition of his new post game, LeBron James has added another phase to his game that Durant lacks.

Scoring, rebounding, passing and defense are all key aspects of the game where James excels over Durant.

The numbers don't lie. James is a better player than Durant in every aspect of the game.
