Popular NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne has issued an apology for his recent remarks on Twitter about breastfeeding.

Kahne posted the apology on his Facebook page saying he never intended to upset anyone.

I understand that my comments regarding breastfeeding posted on Twitter were offensive to some people. For that, I apologize. It was in no way my intention to offend any mother who chooses to breastfeed her child, or, for that matter, anyone who supports breast feeding children. I want to make that clear.

He continues on with his apology, but the damage was already done. To read what he originally posted, FOX Sports has the tweets.

Basically, Kahne said breastfeeding in public was nasty. It didn't sit well with some of his followers, which resulted in verbal fights via the social media website.

The 31-year-old has over 100,000 followers hanging on his ever word, or rather tweet. This was a bonehead move from him, and although he apologized, it has hurt his image in the public eye, especially with women who are fans of NASCAR.

Yes, women enjoy NASCAR too. In fact, some of them are just as rowdy and crazy as the men who enjoy the races.

Athletes getting into trouble on Twitter is nothing new. This is another case of think before you tweet.

While some athletes are well aware of what they say or do in a public place, all too often they forget to play it smart on Twitter.

Kahne got in way over his head, calling someone a "dumb b*tch," just because she was upset about his comments on breastfeeding.

Had he not engaged with his followers over his breastfeeding comments, things wouldn't be so bad. Instead, he overreacted and it offended a lot of people.

Moving forward, Kahne would be wise to lay low on the tweets and just relax during his offseason.
