Rose Bowl 2012: Oregon Will Rush Past Wisconsin

Ryan RudnanskyDec 28, 2011

The 2012 Rose Bowl, featuring No. 5 Oregon and No. 10 Wisconsin, promises to be a great matchup, complete with two explosive offenses led by dynamic running backs.

The Badgers sport none other than Heisman candidate Montee Ball, who has rushed for 1,759 yards and 32 touchdowns this season, while adding 255 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.

The Ducks boast junior LaMichael James, who's rushed for 1,646 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 210 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

In the end, this matchup is going to come down to who racks up the most points.

That team will be Oregon.

Both teams have spectacular offenses. They are two of only 12 teams to score at least 80 touchdowns in a season since 1996. But I see Oregon's fast-paced, no-huddle offense causing problems for the Badgers.

Said Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema, via ESPN:

"

"Their offense is very unique in what they do and the speed in what they play in, so it will be a challenge. Their normal no-huddle is a very fast paced up-tempo, then they have another extremely quick one in which they catch defenses offsides, it's a very difficult situation.

"They will do what most no-huddle teams do, adjust to your look, audibilize at the line of scrimmage and make another play."

"

Beyond James, the Ducks feature quarterback Darron Thomas and running backs Kenjon Barner and De'Anthony Thomas. All are electric playmakers.

To give you an idea of how good Oregon's offense is, the Ducks scored 27 points against No. 1 LSU in the first game of the season. No one has scored that many points against LSU since.

The Ducks also racked up 41 points against a tough Arizona State defense on Oct. 15, and this was despite being without James or Darron Thomas for most of the game. This team's depth is simply unfair for opponents.

It's going to be a close, back-and-forth game between Oregon and Wisconsin come Jan. 2, but the Ducks will come out on top in the end.
