Arsenal Transfer News: Arsene Wenger Opens Door for Epic Return of Thierry Henry

Gabe ZaldivarDec 28, 2011

So much for the notion that legendary footballer Thierry Henry was washed up. English Premier League super club Arsenal have officially offered the former Gunner a loan deal.

It is now up to Henry and the New York Red Bulls to decide if a return to English football is in the best interest of all parties.

Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail reports the Gunners have offered a contract to return to the club on a two-month loan.

After a dismal start to the season, Arsenal has flourished and has a real chance to finish the season amidst the top four. There will be a bevy of issues facing the Gunners in the next couple of months.

As Mokbel notes in his report, Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh will be headed to the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving Robin Van Persie to carry the bulk of the scoring load. Arsenal will need far more prowess in the attack.

Henry would be the perfect option to lighten the load and ignite the supporters who would no doubt go mad over the return of Arsenal's all-time leading goalscorer.

There should be no worries as it pertains to form. Henry has been training with Arsenal during the MLS offseason and is said to be exciting with his ability. He is also doling out a great amount of leadership that can be vital for a young squad.

If there is to be resistance, it would have to come from the Red Bulls to loan out their player ahead of the season. Henry seems keen on joining his former club for one last go.

Henry recently met the release of his statue with great emotion. The fans would also receive the legend with great aplomb. For once, a star would be returning to Emirates rather than deserting it.

The Gunners are on the rise and a star may return to the pitch. The sun is shining a great deal brighter in North London.
