I could make a case that if Des Moines-Ames included Cedar Rapids-Iowa City it would still be No. 2. But they're two different markets. DSM is split about evenly between Iowa and Iowa State fans but it doesn't contain Iowa's campus. Birmingham is a solid No. 1.

@ScottDochterman Any market that has two power five football schools in their area should be left off the list. Two schools in one market should have their own list. I know Nebraska has tried to get the Omaha and Lincoln markets to be combined and it was denied several times. That would be no 1

Little more than a presentation, consisting of a video, and emails or letters sent to affected fans. Consultation it was not.
