College Football Bowl Guide: 5 Players to Watch in Week 2

Caleb HartleyDec 27, 2011

One week of bowls done, two more to go.

This week we are going to focus on the five players to watch from Tuesday through Friday. While some of the bowl matchups make it intolerable to watch, there are certain players who you must tune in to see.

From players in obscurity to Heisman trophy winners, this week offers dynamic players that may or may not have gotten their due.

5. Keith Price

2011 Stats:

26252911

The sophomore from Compton, California, Keith Price will definitely be overshadowed by Heisman winner Robert Griffin III in the Valero Alamo Bowl. As you can see, he put up some very nice numbers against some pretty stiff competition.

Although he wasn't able to turn individual production into team wins, he is someone to watch. He is only getting better...

4. Jordan White

2011 Stats:

Leads the nation in just about every receiving category. He is physical and makes plenty of yards after contact. White is the key to the high-octane Bronco offense.

He is far from a household name but is a consensus All-American and a Biletnikoff semifinalist.

3. Jared Barnett

3 of 5

2011 Stats:

117866

Jared Barnett jumped off the screen and put himself on the map when he and the Cyclones defeated then No. 2 Oklahoma State in a double-overtime thriller.

As a freshman, the Cyclones freshman QB replaced Steele Jantz in late October, and he has been an instant offensive spark, mostly with his running ability, that adds to their overall rushing attack. Iowa State loves to spread the field and pretty much let Barnett run rampant, as he only has seven starts under his belt.

2. Teddy Bridgewater

4 of 5

2011 Stats:

167253185512

After getting off to a 2-4 start, the Louisville Cardinals' resurgence was due in large part to their freshman quarterback. He set a school record for passing yards by a freshman (1,855), and he got stronger as the year progressed.

He played his best game in the season finale at South Florida, where he threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns to rally the Cardinals to a 34-24 victory.

1. Robert Griffin III

5 of 5

2011 Stats:

3998366

There really isn't much that can be said about RG3 that already hasn't been said. He has sprinter speed, great arm strength and impeccable touch on the deep ball. He did win the Heisman for a reason. This could also be the last time we see him in a Baylor uniform.
