January Transfer Window Gossip: Top 6 Football Rumours of the Day
Less than a week now until the transfer window reopens.
You can tell, too. The rumours are starting to fly. And they're big rumours, too.
Just look at what's out there today: Kaka, Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie all find themselves in the rumour mill.
In another week, some of these rumours might start turning into real, actual deals. We can't wait, and we're sure you can't either.
Let's get right to it.
1. Kaká to Chelsea
1 of 6That's right: Brazilian star (er, not so much these days) Kaká is being linked (again) with a move away from Real Madrid.
Chelsea seem to be the most likely destination, but Arsenal, Tottenham and PSG have also been linked to Kaká.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also are reportedly looking to sell the out-of-favour Florent Malouda. The idea is that the money from a Malouda sale would help finance a possible move for Kaká.
Malouda, for his part, is reportedly threatening to quit Chelsea.
2. Inter Ready to Sell Wesley Sneijder?
2 of 6Uh oh. Here we go again.
The Mail Online is reporting that Inter Milan are finally ready to sell their Dutch winger Wesley Sneijder.
Manchester United would again be interested, as they were in the summer. And this past fall.
3. Barca to Bid on RvP?
3 of 6Robin van Persie is on the verge of history. The in-form Arsenal striker needs two more goals to equal Alan Shearer's record of 36 goals in one calendar year.
Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that the Arsenal ace is being linked with a move to the best club in the world. Yes, Barcelona are reportedly considering a bid for van Persie.
Arsenal, of course, lost Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona this past summer. In addition, Barca have plucked Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit and Thierry Henry from Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.
4. Raul Albiol to Manchester United
4 of 6The Guardian today passed along this rumour about Raul Albiol and Manchester United.
Here's the gist: Injury-plagued United are looking for players, especially those of the defensive persuasion. Center back Raul Albiol is out of favour at Real Madrid.
A transfer from Spain to England would mean everybody wins.
5. Dimitar Berbatov Back to Germany?
5 of 6Dimitar Berbatov is suddenly scoring goals in bunches for Manchester United. Before that, though, the injury-prone forward had been out of favour at Old Trafford.
So it's not unexpected that reports have linked Berbatov with a move away from Manchester United. This story, from CaughtOffside, says Bayer Leverkusen are interested in bringing the Bulgarian back to Germany.
Berbatov played at Bayer Leverkusen from 2000-06, scoring 91 goals in all competitions.
6. Alvaro Pereira to Chelsea
6 of 6Chelsea aren't just interested in Kaká. According to this report, the London club will target Porto left back Alvaro Pereira this January.
Chelsea tried to sign the Uruguayan last summer but failed when Porto asked for £25 million.
