Kobe Bryant: Wrist Injury Will Not Hinder Motivated Lakers Superstar

Alex KayDec 25, 2011

Kobe Bryant isn’t going to be slowed down by his latest wrist injury this season.

The Lakers guard may be primed for one of his best seasons in recent history and truly believes that his team is ready to compete for another championship despite the fact that they lost Lamar Odom and didn’t add any significant pieces in the offseason.

He’s already impressed two key members of the organization: teammate Pau Gasol and new coach Mike Brown.

"He's done some things in practice that have kind of wowed you as far as taking the ball to the basket strong and finishing with dunks in traffic," Brown said.

Gasol added, "He looks really aggressive. He's eager to play."

With those endorsements, expect Bryant to take control of this franchise as he always does and lead them on a deep run through the playoffs after this shortened season.

You can also credit his two trips to Germany for this rejuvenation.

Kobe underwent groundbreaking procedures in Duesseldorf for a bothersome joint in his knee and a problematic left ankle.

"I feel a lot stronger and a lot quicker and able to get to the basket and free-throw line," said Bryant of his physical condition after the treatment.

The man is clearly motivated to tie Jordan with six rings and push the Lakers, one team that many are writing off, to another a championship after the 2011-12 season.

Bryant is still one of the best players in the world and one of the greatest competitors professional basketball has ever seen. If he is playing at a high level, Los Angeles is going to have a great shot at winning it all.
