NBA Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard and Big Names Sure to Move

Brian MaziqueDec 22, 2011

It's only a matter of time for Dwight Howard. He's going to be moved; the recent injury to Brook Lopez may delay it or drastically shift the tide in the Lakers direction, but it's going to happen.

Everyone knows he's going to leave Orlando next year, unless he and others can convince Deron Williams to come to Orlando, but it doesn't seem likely.

Right now, I'm still betting on the Lakers, as New Jersey/Brooklyn doesn't seem established enough as a franchise, and Dwight isn't coming off to me as a guy looking to be the man to turn around an organization.

Howard isn't the only one that is destined for new digs. Here are four other notable players who will almost certainly find a new home.

Mo Williams

1 of 4

The Clippers have more point guards than they can play. Trying to turn Mo Williams into Jason Terry isn't going to work long term. Plus the Clippers need a shooting guard with size. I wonder how the Donald (Sterling) would feel about a Kyle Korver and Taj Gibson for Mo Williams and Brian Cook swap.

The Clippers' present is looking awesome, as they only need small pieces. Williams just might be the chip to cash in to get them.

Andre Iguodala

2 of 4

This one will gain steam again when the Sixers see Evan Turner and Thad Young in regular season action again. Iggy is very talented and versatile, but his contract is too high for him to have never led the team past the first round of the playoffs.

He could, however, be a great pickup for a team that needs a Robin to their Batman. Iggy for Emeka Okafor and Quincy Poindexter isn't a bad trade for the 76ers or the Hornets.

OJ Mayo

3 of 4

How many times can one man almost get traded without being traded? Mayo has had his bags all packed to land in Indiana twice, only to have both deals fall through at the last second.

The Grizzlies have to know he's going to leave them as soon as he gets a chance now. Mayo can still really help a few teams. Obviously the Pacers want him, but the Bulls could use a sixth man who can score.

The Grizzlies covet size and the Bulls are among a few teams with some to spare.

Monta Ellis

4 of 4

There were talks about Ellis being shopped during the offseason, but nothing came of it. Now amidst the sexual harassment allegations, the Warriors may be willing to find out what they can get for Ellis.

They drafted Klay Thompson at the shooting guard spot, so it is as though they've prepared for moving him. His contract stays at $11 million per year through the 2012-2013 season, with a player option for 2013-2014.

Ellis is a big time scorer and prolific in jumping the passing lanes for steals. If someone is willing to take on what could be some off the court issues, it could be a good deal for both teams.
