AP All-American Team: Which Schools Besides LSU and Alabama Were Big Winners?
After another great college football season, the AP All-American team has been announced, and there were several winners.
None were bigger winners than Alabama or LSU as they had a combined seven players on the first team. Five of those players were on the defense alone.
While the SEC was the story once again this season, here are a few other teams and players that didn't do so bad either.
Clemson
1 of 5There were only two freshmen to make the All-American first team, with Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins being one of them. He finished the year with 77 receptions for 1,153 yards, which is a Clemson record.
The Tigers also had Dwayne Allen make the team as a tight end. He had 48 receptions for 577 yards and eight touchdowns.
With Clemson being a very young and talented team, the Tigers have plenty of opportunities to make this list once again.
Baylor
2 of 5This has been a fantastic year for Baylor as a whole and quarterback Robert Griffin.
With all of the talent at the quarterback position this year, Griffin made the first team. His 72 percent completion percentage, nearly 4,000 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns were off the charts.
He was by far the most impressive player this year and that's the reason he won the Heisman as well. Wide receiver Kendall Wright made the second team.
Any time a Baylor player can get in the spotlight, it's great for the university because this is a school that isn't used to so much success.
Georgia
3 of 5The Bulldogs were a solid team this year and if it wasn't for several dropped passes, they may have knocked off LSU in the SEC Championship Game.
Regardless, they have one of the best young defensive players in the country. His name is Jarvis Jones, who made the first team as a linebacker. He finished the year with 13.5 sacks, which is second most in the college football this year.
Safety Bacarri Rambo also made the first-team defense as he finished with seven interceptions and 53 tackles. He was also playing with a heavy heart all year as he lost his unborn son early in the year.
With a young, talented team, the Bulldogs will quickly become SEC elite again.
Wisconsin
4 of 5The Badgers are another team that had two players make the first-team offense.
One of them was running back Montee Ball, who had a historic year. He rushed for over 1,700 yards and 32 touchdowns. In the last five games alone, he has rushed for over 900 yards and has 17 total touchdowns. It would have been easy for the voters to give the award to another back with a bigger name.
Offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler made the list as well.
USC
5 of 5USC may not have Matt Barkley next season at quarterback, but should have wide receiver Robert Woods, regardless of who is throwing the football.
Woods had a monster sophomore season with 111 receptions for over 1,200 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. His 255 receiving yards against Arizona is a new school record. He failed to reach 100 receiving yards in only five games this year.
Offensive lineman Matt Kalil made the first team as well.
With USC now off of probation, this team will be scary next season.
