Dayne Crist Visits Kansas: Delaware and Wisconsin Next, Who'll Get the Irish QB?

Randy ChambersDec 14, 2011

With the Notre Dame quarterback situation looking like it's not going to include Dayne Crist, he has received permission to seek other schools and transfer. Crist was the starter for the Irish in the beginning of the season, but after a horrible Week 1 start, he was benched.

Crist is currently looking at Wisconsin, Delaware and Kansas as possible landing spots. He is visiting all of the schools and then he will make his decision.

Let's predict where he ends up by the time the next season starts.

Delaware

1 of 3

Going to Delaware would be the easy way out for Crist. He would be playing Division I-AA football, where the competition isn't great at all. He would be named the starter right away and wouldn't have to compete for anything.

Chances are he would succeed and put up fantastic numbers and a great winning record.

This is a former 5-star recruit. After playing for Notre Dame, I just don't think he'd take a step back in his career. It would also not help any NFL stock he has left, as he would be playing quite a few horrible teams.

Wisconsin

2 of 3

Going to Wisconsin would be great for Crist as he would be playing for a fantastic team that has a history of winning. He'd have a chance to not only reach a BCS bowl, but possibly win a national championship. He'll also be playing for a great head coach.

There are the negatives to joining Wisconsin, though, and that's the fact that many other quarterbacks are considering transferring there as well. He would have to compete for his job.

The expectations are through the roof with the success they just had with Russell Wilson, and key players are leaving, including majority of the offensive line and leading wide receiver Nick Toon.

I wouldn't be shocked if he picked Wisconsin, but I think he'll go elsewhere.

Kansas

3 of 3

Kansas has something no other school can offer, and that's Charlie Weis as the head coach. Weis is the same guy who recruited him at Notre Dame.

Crist would be able to thrive under his offense and put up awesome numbers. He may not have the same weapons around him that he would have in Wisconsin, but that gives him the chance to prove he is the real deal.

Great quarterbacks make the players around them better and that's what he would have to do as a Jayhawk.

He would also have a tough schedule that will give him a to of exposure. The Jayhawks play Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas and Baylor next season.

Kansas has the coach and tough schedule he had at Notre Dame. He wouldn't have to compete for the starting job and if he succeeds, it'd really help his NFL stock.

Becoming a Jayhawk is the best thing for Dayne Crist.
