Potential Trades Mitch Kupchak Was Hinting at for LA Lakers
So far this offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers haven't improved very much as a team. In fact, just the opposite is true. They've found a way to get worse.
The Lakers find themselves without point guard Chris Paul and traded Lamar Odom to Dallas without acquiring any major pieces for the season.
But Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak says some big deals are in the works. Here's a look at some guys that could potentially be on his radar.
Dwight Howard
1 of 5The Lakers once thought they could get Paul and Howard and now with Paul likely out of the question, they have to turn their attention to Howard.
Now that there is more attention turned to acquiring Howard from other teams around the league, Kupchak needs to land his superstar.
Steve Nash
2 of 5Needing to upgrade the point guard position, Kupchak could turn his attention to Phoenix and attempt to pry away Nash, who would be a good short-term fix and give the Lakers a very solid backcourt for the time being.
Deron Williams
3 of 5The Lakers could still attempt to land their two superstars by possibly taking a run at Howard and Williams. If New Jersey loses out on Howard, there is a good chance Williams won't re-sign with the Nets and Kupchak could possibly sneak in and steal him away.
Andre Iguodala
4 of 5The emergence of Thaddeus Young may make Iguodala finally expendable in Philadelphia and the Lakers have a need with the deal of Odom to Dallas.
Michael Beasley
5 of 5Beasley is a guy Kupchak could likely get for cheap. Again, the Lakers have a need with the absence of Odom and the Timberwolves would be dealing from a strength. They just drafted Derrick Williams, so Beasley could be expendable.
