Dayne Crist to Visit Kansas, Wisconsin and Delaware: Pros & Cons of Each School
With the Notre Dame quarterback situation looking like it's not going to include Dayne Crist, he has received permission to seek other schools and transfer. Crist was the starter for the Irish in the beginning of the season, but after a horrible Week 1 start he was benched.
Crist is currently looking at Wisconsin, Delaware and Kansas as possible landing spots. All three of those schools, like anything, have negatives and positives.
Here are the pros and cons for Crist joining each school he is considering.
Kansas
1 of 3Pros
Crist will get to start right away for the Kansas Jayhawks and now has a great offensive mastermind in Charlie Weis as head coach.
With his spread offense and the talent that Crist has, he would have a chance to thrive and put up great offensive numbers.
Weis is the guy who recruited Crist at Notre Dame, and they may be a perfect fit for the Jayhawks football team.
Cons
Crist has nobody on offense to help him succeed—he would have a lot on his plate and would have to do everything himself offensively.
Sure, Weis does have a great history running an offense, but he can't make up for the lack of talent.
He would also be playing in the brutal Big 12 and will play teams like Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas and Baylor.
There are more talented teams he could join that have easier schedules.
Delaware
2 of 3Pros
Crist on this team could probably lead the Fightin' Blue Hens to a Division I-AA Championship.
The competition isn't that great, and with a solid quarterback that's played against the top competition, he'd light it up over there.
Cons
The lack of competition would make him look great on the field but would hurt his NFL draft stock.
He didn't do great at Notre Dame, and a season at Delaware wouldn't help his case. Scouts want to see him do well against the top competition, and he wouldn't get that in the Division I-AA.
Wisconsin
3 of 3Pros
Joining this team would most likely give him the best shot to win right away, as there are talented players all over this roster.
He would have to do less work, as the Badgers are a run-first team, and he'd get the shot to compete in a BCS bowl.
Cons
Other quarterbacks are considering transferring to Wisconsin, so he would have to compete for his job.
There are key offensive players leaving, including the majority of the offensive line, wide receiver Nick Toon and possibly Montee Ball.
The expectations would also be through the roof with Russell Wilson doing a great job his first season at Wisconsin. I'm not sure Crist would be able to fulfill those expectations or be able to handle the pressure.
