Chris Paul Trade Rumors: Report Says Clippers Could Complete Deal by Tuesday

Richard LangfordDec 12, 2011

The Chris Paul to the Clippers trade is not dead yet. ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting the latest development in this growing saga.

Stein and Broussard elaborated further on ESPN.com, saying they heard from sources that "league officials negotiating on the Hornets' behalf had aggressively re-engaged the Clippers."

This news comes hours after Clippers general manager Neil Olshey was quoted by the Associated Press as saying, “The cost was just too high,” but Stein and Broussard let us know that he also added, "Everything's over until it's reborn again."

That news that the deal was over came as a shock to the basketball world as it came on the heels of reports that the Hornets and Clippers had agreed on a deal and sent it to the league office for approval.

Details of the deal that were declined by the league office were not made public, but the Associated Press reported the deal for Paul was rumored to be for Chris Kaman, reserve guard Eric Bledsoe, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and their No. 1 pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

The report went onto say that there was speculation that the league also wanted guard Eric Gordon to be included. There is no speculation on who, other than Paul, is involved in the new deal.

It remains to be seen if this deal will go through. It was just a couple of days ago that the Hornets, Lakers and Rockets were involved a similar situation with a trade involving All-Star Paul.

Their first trade was denied by the league. They went back to work on a second package, and reports surfaced that they were close to completing that deal, but the Lakers backed out.

Stay tuned, as this will remain to be a fluid situation.
