2011 Bowl Games: Oregon vs. Wisconsin and More Games Headed for Shootouts
The bowl games have been announced, and it's already plain to see which games will be high-scoring affairs.
Fans want excitement in every game, which means they want lots and lots of touchdowns. While the 2011 bowl season will feature nail-biters, blowouts and crazy comebacks, the back-and-forth scoring is what everybody loves to watch.
With that said, here are three games certain to be a shootout.
Rose Bowl
Oregon vs. Wisconsin is destined to be an epic game. Both teams can score at will, which is why this is a lock for a shootout.
Montee Ball and Russell Wilson going head-to-head against the speed of Darron Thomas and LaMichael James will have fans on the edge of their seat for all four quarters.
Both teams average around 45 points per game, and neither has been outstanding on defense in recent weeks. Since the Ducks and the Badgers are so great on offense, this game will do down as one of the best in Rose Bowl history.
I like the Badgers to out-duel the Ducks in one of the best bowl games of the year.
Prediction: Badgers 48, Ducks 44
Cotton Bowl
Arkansas vs. Kansas State is easily the most intriguing non-BCS bowl, and the game will deliver on the hype.
The Razorbacks have dominated all opponents not named Alabama or LSU. In fact, outside of those two games, Arkansas has averaged 42 points per game.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, average 33 points per game, and dual-threat quarterback Collin Klein will be very hard to stop.
However, Tyler Wilson will steal the show, and the Razorbacks win in the final minutes of the game.
Prediction: Razorbacks 45, Wildcats 38
Orange Bowl
Clemson vs. West Virginia may not sound all that great, but both teams are going to have no trouble scoring.
The Tigers are very versatile, and with so much speed and skill on offense, they will put a lot of points on the board.
Geno Smith and Mountaineers lives to shred opposing defenses, and he will air it out a ton to keep his team competitive.
In the end, the Tigers will prevail, thanks to stellar play by their young stars Sammy Watkins and Tajh Boyd.
Prediction: Tigers 40, Mountaineers 33
