BCS Bowl Predictions: Winners, Final Scores, Star Performances and More
The 2011 college football season is over, and before you know, it bowl season will be here. While fans shout to the rooftops for a playoff, we're forced to sit back and watch 35 different bowl games over the course of a few weeks.
It's not terrible, but I think most of us can agree some sort of playoff is a better system. Still, there a great number of games, especially when it comes to the biggest stages of them all.
The BCS National Championship game may be a rematch between LSU and Alabama, but it's going to be a great game.
The other four BCS bowls will also live up to the hype, so get ready for an awesome bowl season.
These are my predictions for the five BCS bowls in the 2011 college football season.
Orange Bowl: West Virginia vs. Clemson
1 of 5When: Jan. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET
Where: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
Watch: ESPN
When the Big East and the ACC go head to head, it could easily be a let down. However, since both the Tigers and the Mountaineers excel on offense, look for this to be a high-scoring affair.
Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, but this will be a competitive game until the end.
I like Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins to put on a show, giving Clemson its first ever BCS bowl victory.
Prediction: Tigers 40, Mountaineers 33
Sugar Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Michigan
2 of 5When: Jan 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET
Where: Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Watch: ESPN
While fans may not be happy that these two teams were picked ahead of some others, it is what is and we have to live with it. It's going to be a good game, as Denard Robinson versus Logan Thomas is a great matchup to watch unfold.
Robinson will shine on the big stage, and the improved Michigan defense will continue to dominate. Thomas and David Wilson will put up a good fight, but the Hokies will fall to the Wolverines.
Prediction: Wolverines 34, Hokies 24
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Wisconsin
3 of 5When: Jan 2 at 5:00 p.m. ET
Where: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
Watch: ESPN
Speed meets power in the "Granddaddy of Them All," and I couldn't be more excited. This game features so many playmakers it's hard to see who will come out on top.
Montee Ball is the true definition of a workhorse, and he will steal the spotlight from LaMichael James. Since both teams can score at will, look for this to be an epic shootout. Russell Wilson leads the Badgers to a comeback, and the Ducks go home empty handed once again.
Prediction: Badgers 48, Ducks 44
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Stanford
4 of 5When: Jan 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ
Watch: ESPN
This game has the potential to be the best BCS bowl because it's the No. 3 offense versus the No. 11 offense in the country. The passing game will be in full effect, so look for the defenses to try and create turnovers to gain an edge.
The Cowboys felt they were screwed by the BCS, and they'll come ready to play against Andrew Luck and Stanford. However, Oklahoma State's defense will not be able to stop the nation's best quarterback. Therefore, the Cowboys will lose, ending any and all discussions about them being left out of the title game.
Prediction: Cardinal 38, Cowboys 31
BCS Title: LSU vs. Alabama
5 of 5When: Jan. 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET
Where: Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Watch: ESPN
Some fans may not have wanted a rematch, but that's what we've got, and they should still be excited.
These are the two best teams in the country, and they will produce a very good game. With the title on the line, expect both offenses to come through and put more points on the board.
Honey Badger will finally care, because his team is going to lose. A.J. McCarron elevates his game on the national stage, and Trent Richardson bruises his way to two touchdowns, giving the Crimson Tide another championship.
Prediction: Crimson Tide 27, LSU 24
