Bowl Games 2011: 5 Games That'll Be a Waste of Ticket Money

Nobody loves bowl season more than I do, but there are always a few games that people would not attend even if you paid them to attend.

Let's face the facts, there are many 6-6 teams that are playing in bowl games once again this season. However, the bowl games this time around look a bit worse, and the bowl names aren't helping.

Whether it is the Beef O'Brady's or the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, there are the select amount of "do not attend this game even if you get paid" bowls this postseason. Which five made the list this holiday season?

BBVA Compass Bowl

Who: Pitt Panthers 6-6 vs. SMU Mustangs 7-5

Where: Birmingham, AL

When: Jan. 7, 1 p.m. ET

Why Watch: Don't! Well, unless your a freak like myself who enjoys watching every single game imaginable.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl

Who: Mississippi State Bulldogs 6-6 vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons 6-6

When: Dec. 20, 6:40 p.m. ET

Where: Nashville, TN

Why Watch: I am not sure this will draw any TV ratings just for the fact that the time slot is obnoxious. Wake Forest was abysmal down the stretch and I find that funny because the Bulldogs started out abysmal. Which team will show up and who wants to avoid a losing season? 

Beef O'Brady's Bowl

Who: FIU Panthers 8-4 vs. Marshall Thundering Herd 6-6

Where: St. Petersburg, FL

When: Dec. 20, 8 p.m. ET

Why Watch: Go Rays! Oh, wait, this game is only being played at a baseball stadium to try and attract more fans? This bowl game has not been the worst, but it is far from being one of the better non-BCS matchups because of the talent level. FIU just beat Toledo last season in what was their first ever bowl victory, can they do it again? If I fired you up then maybe I should be a pre-game or halftime team motivator.

Famous Idaho Potato

Who: Ohio Bobcats 9-4 vs. Utah State Aggies 7-5

When: Dec. 17, 5:30 p.m. ET

Where: Boise, ID

Why Watch: Maybe because you have a thing for the color blue? Watching a game on your HD TV is awesome to begin with, but something about watching a game on a blue carpet will always intrigue someone to see how much their eyes bother them after the game. Go ahead, see how long you can last without saying, "Man I love/hate that field."

Gildan New Mexico Bowl

Who: Wyoming Cowboys 8-4 vs. Temple Owls 8-4

When: Dec. 17, 2 p.m. ET

Where: Albuquerque, N.M.

Why Watch: Do not look at the CBS bowl selections because they forgot how to spell the city where the New Mexico Lobos play. Maybe they did not fix the error because it is the New Mexico Bowl and why not make a mistake on the very first bowl game to kick off the season. Nothing screams college football more than Temple and Wyoming!
