BCS Rankings: Michigan Wolverines and Teams Ranked Way Too High

Tim KeeneyDec 5, 2011

Here's a quick look at three teams that are ranked a little too high in this week's latest BCS poll.

Michigan Wolverines (No. 13)

First of all, I agree with the decision to put Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. Denard Robinson is a star and Michigan will attract a ton of ticket sales.

In terms of play, I guess they're good enough. It just seems like a team like Michigan State—who beat Michigan and lost their third game (to drop them below Michigan) in a hard-fought Big 10 Championship game—should have gotten consideration.

The Wolverines finished No. 13 in the final BCS poll and that's a little too high for me. Their only impressive win was the blowout win against Nebraska, but other than that, I haven't really been impressed.

I wouldn't necessarily drop Michigan a lot, but I would just like to see one or two more quality wins to justify their current spot.

Houston Cougars (No. 19)

If all games are equal, the Cougars shouldn't be getting the benefit of winning 12 games in a row to start the season.

It just seems like they're still ranked because their winning streak propelled them so high.

The fact of the matter is they have a loss in the Conference USA. The Cougars dropped to No. 19, but probably should be out of the Top 25 completely.

They at least should have been passed by Southern Miss, who just beat Houston handily.

Oklahoma Sooners (No. 14)

The Sooners looked absolutely horrendous against Oklahoma State. When it comes down to it, they just don't look like the 14th best team in the nation.

I wouldn't mind seeing Clemson, Georgia and Michigan State all ahead of the Sooners.
