BCS Bowl Predictions: TCU and More Teams That Will Claim Undeserved Bids

Tim DanielsDec 4, 2011

It's going to be a long Sunday afternoon for every team on the BCS bubble. When the dust finally settles, there will be a couple teams mad they were overlooked. Here are three teams that will claim bids, leaving more deserving teams to participate in smaller bowl games.

TCU Horned Frogs

TCU may have finished the regular season 10-2, but the Horned Frogs only have one marquee win to show for it (Boise State). Assuming they are able to move into the top 16 of the final standings, they'll secure one of the remaining at-large bids.

That despite the fact they'll still be nearly 10 spots behind the one-loss Broncos. One of the things casual observes dislike about the BCS is all of its intricacies, such as allowing Boise to participate in a BCS bowl should TCU finish No. 17, but not if it finishes No. 16.

Projected Bowl: Allstate Sugar Bowl

Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines have been a forgotten team. Three straight wins to finish the season moved them up more than 10 spots and into position to steal a BCS bid. However, there are far more deserving two-loss teams that should earn a berth before Michigan.

Most notable among those teams is Kansas State, which has been a computer darling since the first rankings were released. The Wildcats have wins over Baylor and Texas while losing to just the two Oklahoma powerhouses. That's most certainly a better résumé than Michigan can offer.

Projected Bowl: Allstate Sugar Bowl

West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia is the team most fans will complain about, and rightfully so. The Mountaineers will be the likely beneficiary of the Big East's automatic bid enough though they have hovered barely inside the top 25 in recent weeks.

The Mountaineers' biggest win came against Cincinnati, which isn't saying much, and they have lost to Syracuse and Louisville. And given a chance to make a major BCS impact, West Virginia lost by 26 to LSU at home.

There's no way they should be playing in one of the season's most important games.
