Wisconsin vs. Michigan State Video: Watch Spartans' Keshawn Martin Get Lit Up
When watching a Big Ten football game, you expect to see a fair share of bone-crushing hits, and the conference title game is certainly no exception as Michigan State's Keshawn Martin found out. Martin lost his helmet after a big shot from Wisconsin's Chris Borland.
The video is embedded above.
Martin took a quick bubble screen pass from Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins and eluded a couple tacklers by bursting through a small gap in the secondary.
Just as he cut back to the inside, however, Borland decleated him.
Martin's helmet went flying, which has happened way too frequently during this college football season, but he was able to bounce right back up and retrieve his lost headware.
Michigan State is lucky there was no further injury because Martin has been the team's most dynamic offensive threat, giving them a chance to beat Wisconsin for the second time this season. Without him, the unit would have struggled to continue its momentum.
A lot of credit has to go to Borland as well. Not only was he attempting to knock down the Spartans' biggest playmaker, but he was also trying to force a timely turnover with his team trailing.
The hit is just one of several highlight-worthy plays from the championship clash.
Both teams are fighting for one BCS bid, and it's evident that nobody plans on leaving a single ounce of energy or intensity on the field when the final whistle blows.
With officials cracking down on big hits because of concussion worries, it was nice to see a mammoth shot that was perfectly clean and didn't warrant a flag. And both players getting up right away just furthers that point.
Borland also made sure Martin will think twice before making his next cutback.
