Week 14 College Football Picks: 3 Games with Blowout Written All over Them

Johnathan CaceDec 3, 2011

Even though there aren’t as many games as usual and six of those games are between teams ranked in the latest BCS Standings, there are still a number of games that have all the makings for a blowout.

Anything can happen in a college football game but there are certain games where everything seems to line up for one team to make a major statement.

Here are the three games most likely to end in a blowout today.

Wisconsin over Michigan State

1 of 3

When people think about the first game between these two teams, all they remember is the Hail Mary at the end of the game. They tend to forget that Wisconsin jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and looked like it was going to run away with the game before a blocked punt changed the entire game.

On a neutral field, this game should definitely favor the Badgers. And with them out for revenge, expect no mercy from Bret Bielema. Should be a big Wisconsin win.

Virginia Tech over Clemson

2 of 3

Whenever there is a rematch, taking the team that lost is always a good choice. And considering how much improved the Hokies are compared to how bad the Tigers have looked in recent weeks, there really is nothing that says this game should be close.

Jayron Hosley and company held Sammy Watkins to his lowest output of the season and Logan Thomas has dramatically improved since the teams’ first meeting. With revenge on their minds, the Hokies come out and handle Clemson for a trip to the Orange Bowl.

TCU over UNLV

3 of 3

This one is more obvious but TCU still has a small chance to earn a trip to a BCS Bowl. But it has to move up into the Top 16, have Houston lose and Southern Miss not jump ahead of them.

The only thing the Horned Frogs can really do in this situation is come out and absolutely destroy UNLV. They’ll have no problem doing it either because the Runnin’ Rebels are 2-9 on the season and are giving up 39 points per game. The line for this game is set at 39 but TCU could cover that pretty easily if it comes out with the mindset of destroying its opponent.
