Week 14 College Football Picks: 3 Games You Can Line Your Pockets with

Johnathan CaceDec 1, 2011

There aren’t as many games to pick from this weekend, but almost all of the games are huge contests. Six of the games are between ranked opponents, and that’s not including the Pac-12 Championship.

For those of you who want to place a bet on one of these great matchups, Vegas has given you some absolute steals this week.

Here are the three easiest bets for the final full weekend of college football.

Clemson vs. Virginia Tech (-7)

1 of 3

These two teams already faced off with Clemson coming out victorious by 20 points. So why should the Hokies easily cover the seven-point spread?

Momentum.

The Tigers have lost three of four and have given up at least 28 points in the past six games compared to allowing over that just once in the first six. They also have scored less than 20 points in each of their losses.

Tech, on the other hand, has scored 30 or more in every game following the loss except for two, and quarterback Logan Thomas has only thrown two interceptions in that time compared to five in five games to start the season.

With the Hokies out for revenge, expect a big win in Charlotte.

Michigan State vs. Wisconsin (-9.5)

2 of 3

Wisconsin will also be out for revenge after the Spartans beat them in East Lansing on a Hail Mary pass.

At a neutral site, there’s no way State gets another win against the Badgers. The momentum of the game completely changed in the second quarter, and many people forget that they jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Michigan State’s defense hasn’t been as dominant in recent weeks, allowing 62 points to Minnesota, Iowa and Northwestern. If Montee Ball and Russell Wilson can put up 45 against Penn State, they can certainly do more damage to this defense.

Georgia vs. LSU (-13.5)

3 of 3

The Bulldogs have dramatically improved over the course of the season, but they don’t have nearly enough on offense to outscore LSU. With Georgia’s offensive line allowing over two sacks per game, Aaron Murray will be scrambling all game, and it will likely lead to more turnovers.

Plus, injuries have cut into the defensive depth chart, and against an offense that mercilessly pounds the ball on the ground that is a serious problem.

The Tigers have beaten every opponent except Alabama by 13 points and have scored at least 35 points in every game except two.
