BCS Rankings: Highest and Lowest Moments of the Season for Every BCS Team
In a football season full of ups and downs, it is only appropriate that we look at the peaks and valleys of every BCS conference team.
Some high points were really high, but in contrast some of the low points were extremely low.
Some teams lost their way, while others found it.
How did your team do? Let's take a look.
Boston College
1 of 68Team: Boston College
Conference: ACC
Record: 4-8, (3-5)
Highest Moment
In a season with very few high spots, the upset over North Carolina State in Week 12 was probably the highest. A game that was tight all the way through, the Eagles pulled the game out 14-10.
BC played much better in the last three games of the year, almost beating Notre Dame and defeating Miami 24-17.
Had Boston College pulled off the upset against the Irish, that would have certainly been the high point of the season.
Lowest Moment
After losing to Virginia Tech 30-14, the Eagles were 1-6, their only win being over Massachusetts.
Clemson
2 of 68Team: Clemson
Conference: ACC
Record: 9-3, (6-2)
Highest Moment
After defeating No. 11 Virginia Tech 23-3, Clemson was 5-0 with consecutive wins over No. 21 Auburn, No.11 Florida State and the Hokies.
The team was riding high and feeling good. Clemson fans were excited, and it looked like the Tigers were for real.
Lowest Moment
After losing to No. 12 South Carolina and three of their last four games of the regular season, the Tigers were de-fanged and de-clawed.
Fans couldn't believe this Clemson team, once No. 7 in the nation and 8-0 overall, could have such a horrible collapse.
This week, they play Virginia Tech once again. However, this time it is for the ACC Championship. Which Clemson team will show up?
Duke
3 of 68Team: Duke
Conference: ACC
Record: 3-9, (1-7)
Highest Moment
In a season with very few choices for highest moment, the victory over Boston College in Week 3 has to be tops.
Duke stunned the Eagles 20-19 for their first of three wins of the year. Those three wins came in Weeks 3, 4 and 5 against BC, Tulane and FIU.
After that, it was all downhill.
Lowest Moment
After losing to North Carolina, Duke completed a regular season with seven straight losses. While every one of those losses was a low moment, the last game had to be most painful.
Because now, Duke will have to wait an entire year in hopes of winning another football game.
Thank goodness it's basketball season!
Florida State
4 of 68Team: Florida State
Conference: ACC
Record: 8-4, (5-3)
Highest Moment
Beating Florida 21-7, but what makes it so good is that just two weeks earlier, FSU had beaten rival Miami 23-19.
Lowest Moment
Had to be the loss to Wake Forest. This was the third loss in a row at the time and dropped the Seminoles to 2-3 on the season.
Georgia Tech
5 of 68Team: Georgia Tech
Conference: ACC
Record: 8-4, (5-3)
Highest Moment
After beating Maryland, the Yellow Jackets were 6-0 and ranked No. 12 in the nation.
Lowest Moment
The losses to Virginia, Miami and Virginia Tech were all painful. However, it had to be hard to lose to rivals Georgia in the last game of the year 31-17.
Maryland
6 of 68Team: Maryland
Conference: ACC
Record: 2-10, (1-7)
Highest Moment
When the season ended, so they could just take a break. After all, eight straight losses can wear on any team.
Lowest Moment
Before the season started and they announced all their new uniform designs.
Miami
7 of 68Team: Miami
Conference: ACC
Record: 6-6, (3-5)
Highest Moment
In a season full of challenges, it is easy to grab anything positive. However, probably the highest moment in a very tough season would have to be when the Hurricanes defeated No. 22 Georgia Tech 24-7.
Lowest Moment
Before the season ever really started, we heard about a massive scandal in Miami. It shook the program to its core and hasn't finished yet.
North Carolina
8 of 68Team: North Carolina
Conference: ACC
Record: 7-5, (3-5)
Highest Moment
After defeating Virginia in Week 3, the Tar Heels were 3-0 on the season and it all looked good.
Lowest Moment
A heart-breaking loss at Virginia Tech was painful, but the week before was probably lower.
Losing to North Carolina State 13-0 had to be the lowest moment in North Carolina's season.
North Carolina State
9 of 68Team: North Carolina State
Conference: ACC
Record: 7-5, (4-4)
Highest Moment
A huge win over then-No. 7 Clemson had to be a high point for the Wolfpack.
Lowest Moment
The 14-10 loss to Boston College was a tough one, but being shut out 34-0 by Florida State was probably worse.
Virginia
10 of 68Team: Virginia
Conference: ACC
Record: 8-4, (5-3)
Highest Moment
After beating No. 25 Florida State, the Cavaliers had won four in a row and looked good going into the Virginia Tech game.
Lowest Moment
It is tempting to say the 21-20 win over Idaho in overtime was the lowest moment of the season.
However, it was a win. Unlike the 38-0 embarrassment the Cavaliers suffered at the hands of Virginia Tech last week. That had to hurt.
Wake Forest
11 of 68Team: Wake Forest
Conference: ACC
Record: 6-6, (5-3)
Highest Moment
Beating No. 23 Florida State 35-30 in Week 5 was a wonderful high point in the season for Wake Forest. It brought them to 4-1 on the season after their fourth straight win.
Lowest Moment
Losing four of their last five games has to be a horribly low feeling. However, being destroyed by Vanderbilt 41-7 in the final game has to be lowest of the low.
Baylor
12 of 68Team: Baylor
Conference: Big 12
Record: 8-3, (5-3)
Highest Moment
The opening game against TCU. Baylor shocked everyone, including the Horned Frogs, with their performance.
It was a coming-out party for RGIII, and after pulling off the 50-48 win, Baylor had made it clear they had arrived.
Lowest Moment
The month of October was not kind to the Bears. Baylor completed a two-game slide when they lost to Oklahoma State 59-24.
This made three losses in the Big 12 in just four weeks. They went from riding high in the Big 12 at the beginning of the month to no chance of winning it by month's end.
Losses to Kansas State, Texas A&M and then Oklahoma State ruined a stellar season.
Iowa State
13 of 68Team: Iowa State
Conference: Big 12
Record: 6-5, (3-5)
Highest Moment
The highest moment in the Iowa State season is no doubt the night they shocked Oklahoma State and the rest of the nation.
The Cyclones upset the Cowboys 37-31 in a thrilling double overtime shootout. It is a game Iowa State and their fans won't forget anytime soon.
Lowest Moment
The loss to Texas A&M had to be a low point. This completed a winless October after losing four in a row.
Kansas
14 of 68Team: Kansas
Conference: Big 12
Record: 2-10, (0-9)
Highest Moment
After winning 45-42 against Northern Illinois, the Jayhawks were 2-0. That is about the highest point of the season. Unless you count the firing of their head coach.
After a two-season total of 5-19 and 1-16 in the Big 12, coach Gill had to go and fans are excited for a new start.
Lowest Moment
After coming oh-so-close to an upset against Iowa State, the Jayhawks took Baylor to overtime, only to lose 31-30.
It was a painful loss for the players, coaches and fans. It certainly was the lowest of many low points in their season.
Kansas State
15 of 68Team: Kansas State
Conference: Big 12
Record: 9-2, (6-2)
Highest Moment

Lowest Moment

Oklahoma
17 of 68Team: Oklahoma
Conference: Big 12
Record: 9-2, (6-2)
Highest Moment
When Oklahoma destroyed Texas 55-17 in the Red River Rivalry, the Sooners were flying high.
Lowest Moment
When the Sooners lost All-American Ryan Broyles, the NCAA's career leader in receptions, against Texas A&M, every Oklahoma fan cried out, "Oh no!"
Oklahoma then went on to lose the next game against Baylor 45-38.
Oklahoma State
18 of 68Team: Oklahoma State
Conference: Big 12
Record: 10-1, (7-1)
Highest Moment
So many high moments occurred for the Cowboys this season. They had wins against Texas A&M, Texas, Missouri, Baylor and Kansas State.
However, the high point of the season was probably the 66-6 destruction of Texas Tech, a team that had upset big brother Oklahoma.
It brought the Cowboys to a perfect 10-0 record and set them up for a showdown with the Sooners.
Of course, they still had to play Iowa State, but that should have been no problem.
Lowest Moment
The loss to Iowa State in double overtime 37-31.
Texas
19 of 68Team: Texas

Texas Tech went into Norman, Oklahoma and took it to the Sooners. They left there with a 41-38 win and the Sooners' pride.
It was a night Texas Tech fans won't soon forget.
Lowest Moment
The rest of the season, especially the 66-6 crushing defeat to Oklahoma State. Texas Tech didn't win a single game after upsetting Oklahoma, proving that the Sooner defeat was a big ole' Texas-sized fluke.
Cincinnati
22 of 68Team: Cincinnati
Conference: Big East
Record: 8-3, (4-2)
Highest Moment
Beating Pittsburgh 26-23 was probably the high point of the Bearcats' season. This put them in great shape to make it to the Orange Bowl.
