Lakers Rumors: Andrew Bynum's Health Concerns Hurt Lakers' Ability to Deal
The Lakers want Dwight Howard. The Lakers want Chris Paul, but they won't get them if either the Hornets, Magic and now the Bucks are gun-shy on the acquisition of Andrew Bynum.
No one would doubt Bynum's upside and talent, but the fact is that in six seasons, Bynum has played in more than 50 games just twice. Bynum just turned 24 years old, but to have had this many injury problems this early doesn't bode well for the future.
Could the Magic, Hornets or the Bucks for that matter, part with the likes of Howard, Paul or Andrew Bogut for such uncertainty?
One of the most recent deals circulated was a proposed three team swap that would land Bynum in Milwaukee, Bogut in Orlando and Howard in Los Angeles. Theoretically, that sounds like a win-win for all teams, but if Bynum plays in 48 games per season (sans this abbreviated 66 game schedule) would the Bucks really have benefited from moving Bogut?
I don't think so, and that must be a concern of any potential trade partner for the Lakers.
Teams can look at the fact that Bynum, along with Lamar Odom are expiring deals; but that too is the essence of uncertainty, especially for a team like the Bucks. Milwaukee isn't exactly a major draw for free-agents.
For a team that has to build through the draft and trades due to geography, it behooves them to make safer trades. Bynum is not a safe bet.
