NBA Rumors: Where Should Baron Davis Sign If He Gets Cut by Amnesty Clause?
With the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that is soon to be in place, teams have the ability to waive one player in order to save some room in the salary cap. For the Cleveland Cavaliers, they could save a lot of room by getting rid of Baron Davis' huge $13.9-million contract this season.
So if the Cavs decide to waive Davis, what team should he sign with?
Los Angeles Lakers
1 of 6Baron Davis was once one of the top players in the league during his tenure with the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets and the Golden State Warriors, and still has something left in the tank to help any team that he plays for next season.
The Los Angeles Lakers could be a nice landing spot for Baron Davis, as he could add depth to the bench and give some much-needed scoring power to the second unit.
Davis could even start if need be, because the point guard position is one that the Lakers need to upgrade in order to help them make another championship run.
Miami Heat
2 of 6The Miami Heat need to add pieces around their Big Three in order to help them get back to the NBA finals and get over last season's tough defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
Adding a point guard who can score and create his own shot can help the Heat. Teams still have to pay attention to Baron Davis when he is on the court, which could free up some space for the Big Three.
Cleveland Cavaliers
3 of 6Baron Davis could stay put with the Cleveland Cavaliers—at least for the first part of the season. The Cavs did draft Kyrie Irving with the first overall pick in the NBA draft, and Davis could help groom Irving.
However, if the Cavs feel at any time that they need to get rid of Davis and his contract, they can do so at any point in the season.
New York Knicks
4 of 6The New York Knicks could always use some additional players to surround Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. Baron Davis is another scoring threat to add to the floor, whether he starts or comes off the bench.
The Knicks are another team that needs to add depth to their roster. Davis will definitely help to add depth and is a good pick-up that will not be just another player who takes up space.
Portland Trialblazers
5 of 6The Portland Trialblazers are in need of adding more depth to the point guard position. They will also need another scoring option if they do decide to get rid of Brandon Roy via the amnesty clause and free up some cap room.
The Trialblazers could get Davis to add a point guard to their team and receive someone who can score and create his own shot.
Where Will He Go?
6 of 6Should Baron Davis get waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers, he will draw interest around the league from teams trying to acquire his services. Baron Davis can still score and give any team that he is on next season some really quality minutes, whether it is as a starter or off the bench.
So what do you think? Who should Baron Davis sign with?
