Urban Meyer to Ohio State: Will Meyer Poach LSU's Greg Studrawa to Be His OC?

Randy ChambersNov 29, 2011

Now that the Urban Meyer-to-Ohio State rumors are over with, it appears that he is wasting no time building his arsenal for next season. The pressure is at an all-time high for him to bring the Buckeyes back to being a respectable team and he is already trying to make that happen.

His first possible move is bringing in Greg Studrawa as an offensive coordinator.

Studrawa is currently the offensive coordinator for the undefeated LSU Tigers but he has history with the new Buckeyes coach. He coached the Falcons' offensive line with Meyer in 2001 and 2002 while Meyer was at Bowling Green.

He followed Meyer to Utah as well but didn't last long, as he decided to return to Bowling Green and become the offensive coordinator there.

He has been the offensive line coach at LSU since 2007 and has helped produce several All-SEC players during that time span. In 2008 his offensive line was the same for all 13 games and the offense averaged over 30 points a game that season.

As an offensive coordinator at Bowling Green in 2005, his offense ranked second in the MAC, averaging 30 points per game. In 2004, his offense ranked second in the country, averaging a MAC record of 506 total yards a game.

Everywhere he has gone, he's had success and it appears that he may decide to reunite with Urban Meyer.

"For me to be more specific about the details would be a little bit inappropriate," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "I don't know if Urban Meyer has reached out to him or not, but I would guess that Urban would contact me if that was the case."

Studrawa is from Ohio and the chance to be an offensive coordinator full time for one of the top programs in the country may be too good to pass up.

If Meyer comes calling, expect LSU to have to find a new play caller on offense.
