Ohio State: No Major Injuries to Report
What's At Stake?
Ohio State is looking to prove it even belongs at the top, while Duke is trying to continue its solid run, knocking off major programs early in the season.
The Buckeyes are No. 2 in the polls, and the Blue Devils are either No. 3 or 4, depending on which list you are referencing. This is a big game early in the season and will give the winner the inside track to being a favorite for a No. 1 seed come March.
OSU has only beaten a single ranked opponent this season, while the Dukies handled their business against Michigan and KU and are now heading up against their third straight opponent of note.
A win for either team is crucial here, and the experience this game will provide to both teams is invaluable come tournament time.
What They're Saying
Nate Taylor of The News & Observer found that Duke players believe they have come closer together because of the Maui Invitational.
""We have confidence, and we believe we're one of the top teams," freshman guard Austin Rivers said. "We grew so much (in Maui). Everybody is more together."
"
Rivers also looked towards his next opponent.
""I think if we could beat Ohio State, that would take our confidence to a whole different level. It would be huge," he said.
"
Bob Baptist of The Columbus Dispatch reported that, while Ohio State is No. 2 in the polls, it really hasn't played any notable programs and will actually be tested tonight.
""The Buckeyes, who are even more unseasoned than Duke, are ranked No. 2 but were only 34th in the RPI because of their schedule. It was rated 159th out of 344. No other team in the top 35 of the RPI had played an easier schedule," he said.

Duke Player to Watch: Austin Rivers
It’s always Austin Rivers to watch when we are talking Dukie basketball. The kid is a freshman phenom projected to jump right to the NBA if the new CBA allows for it.
His talent and ability are through the roof, and watching him attempt to harness it is just exciting.
Ohio State Player to Watch: Jared Sullinger
Sullinger is working with coach Thad Matta to get more help on the outside because he knows it won’t get easier in the paint this year. He can crush these weaker schools, but come tournament time, he won’t have such soft opposition.
Coach Thad Matta spoke with the press the other day about the issue.
""I touched on that after the game the other night," Matta said. "We broke some actions. The hard part is, we were successful with them. Guys are looking at you cross-eyed when you're showing them the film, saying, 'Well, we just scored. What do you want?' Well, I want you to run the play."

Key Matchup
These two teams are playing a completely different style of basketball right now.
Duke has been spreading the scoring load across its entire roster and has five players averaging in double figures.
OSU has just three, and it has barely played any teams that have challenged it.
If Coach K’s boys can shut down Jared Sullinger and William Buford, OSU's two leading scorers, it’s going to be a real long day for the Buckeyes.
Prediction
OSU 76, Duke 73
I don’t think Duke will be able to contain Sullinger throughout the evening, and he will get his averages, possibly more, in a nationally televised game.
It’s going to be very close, but Ohio State pulls this one out late with some free throws to ice the game.
