BCS Rankings Week 14: Virginia Tech and the Nation's Most Overrated Teams

The second-to-last BCS results were just released, and there are quite a few teams overrated by either the human polls or the computer rankings. This happens each and every year, and itโ€™s very frustrating to fans of certain schools who have to deal with teams ahead of them being unfairly judged by these crazy BCS formulas.

This year, Iโ€™ve identified quite a few teams that are simply too high up in the polls and that donโ€™t deserve their ranking.

Letโ€™s take a look.

No. 2 Alabama

At No. 2, the Crimson Tide are pretty much a shoo-in for the national championship game right now.

They have a week off because they didnโ€™t win their division and arenโ€™t playing in their conference championship game.

Why do they get to play for the title when they canโ€™t win their division or conference?

It makes no sense at all.

No. 5 Virginia Tech

The Hokies are in first place in the ACC and have a rematch with Clemson in the title game. That is the one team they lost to by 20 points this season, and having them at No. 5 is just too high.

The computer polls actually got this right and have them averaged at No. 10 in the nation. That would be much more fair considering their weak schedule this year.

No. 8 Arkansas

Arkansas lost to both LSU and Alabama this season yet still will go to a BCS Bowl?

That is just madness.

Because Alabama is overrated and LSU hasnโ€™t lost, the Razorbacks are somehow still considered a legitimate BCS team just because they are in the highly-overrated SEC.

Arkansas had the No. 51 hardest strength of schedule and failed to beat the only two legitimate teams they had to play this season.

Beating Auburn, Texas A&M and South Carolina is hardly impressive considering how those teams panned out this season.ย
