BCS Rankings Week 14: Complete Standings, Twitter Reaction and More

Zachary D. RymerNov 27, 2011

So what did we learn in the BCS in Week 13?

Well, we learned the Arkansas Razorbacks have one thing in common with every other team in the country: They're just not as good as the LSU Tigers.

Les Miles' squad punched its ticket to the SEC championship game with a big win over the Hogs, and they're all but assured to meet Alabama in the BCS national championship game.

As for the here and now, we are currently awaiting the BCS rankings for Week 14, which will be revealed on ESPN later this evening. Once we have them, we aim to discuss them.

For all the latest news and notes concerning the Week 14 BCS rankings, check back here periodically for updates.

Update: Sunday, Nov. 27 at 9:05 p.m. ET

Now that we have the Week 14 BCS rankings (below), it's now time to find out what people think of them. And to do that, we must head to Twitter.

Perhaps the one thing that stands out more than anything else in these new rankings is the fact that Michigan dropped from No. 15 to No. 16, this despite the fact the Wolverines beat Ohio State for the first time since 2003.

What's the problem with this, exactly? I'll let CNBC's Darren Rovell explain:

In other words, Michigan could miss out on a BCS bowl even though it has been viewed as a favorite for the Sugar Bowl.

At least one fan is angry about this outrage:

Another fan is rather amused:

But don't worry, Michigan fans. If you hear the BCS Guru's words, you'll know the Wolverines aren't screwed just yet:

Elsewhere, how about Houston and Boise State being ranked No. 6 and No. 7, respectively? This guy is not too happy about it:

ESPN's Craig James is not a big fan of Boise State, as he has the Broncos ranked No. 24 in the country in his own rankings. See if you can pick up on the sarcasm in one of Adam Kramer's recent tweets:

As far as how these new rankings affect the BCS National Championship Game, Pete Thamel of The New York Times spelled it out quite nicely:

Armageddon, you say? To be honest, I rule nothing out when it comes to the BCS.

Update: Sunday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. ET

We still have a few hours to kill before the Week 14 BCS rankings are revealed (8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN), but we do have the Harris Poll and the USA Today Coaches' Poll to discuss.

As (I think) all of us know, the Harris and USA Today polls make up two-thirds of the BCS rankings, with the other third being computer calculations. An early glimpse at them means an early glimpse at what the BCS rankings might look like.

There aren't many surprises in either poll, but one thing that caught my eye is that the coaches have Virginia Tech at No. 3 overall, ahead of Stanford, Oklahoma State and Houston.

Does this matter? Not really.

The Harris Poll has the Hokies at No. 4, and the computers are likely to have them much lower. In all likelihood, the best the Hokies can do this year is make it to the Orange Bowl.

All this being said, it's definitely odd the coaches would have the Hokies that high. Last I checked, the Hokies were a semi-decent ACC team.

That's all I have to say about that.

While you're waiting, feel free to review/memorize the Week 13 rankings.
