Urban Meyer Ohio State: Penn State and Meyer Will Make Recruits Ignore Sanctions
Remember when free tattoos and Jim Tressel's resignation were relevant?
What was once seen as a major scandal that could cripple the program is now virtually a non-factor. Thanks to Penn State suffering through the biggest scandal in sports history and Urban Meyer to Ohio State rumors rampant, recruits are not going to care about the punishment Ohio State's consequences for their actions.
Ohio State broke rules, but things like Terrelle Pryor getting paid to autograph memorabilia seem trivial next to the child molestation scandal that devastated Penn State's program.
Now, we know what a real scandal looks like.
Not only is the Ohio State a distant memory now, the hiring of Meyer would allow them to show that what has happened to the program is being left in the past, as the team is under Meyer's capable watch.
Recruits who were worried that any coach willing to take the Ohio State job wouldn't be as capable of a coach as Tressel.
Meyer is the most sought after coach in the nation right now and players will be coming from near and far to play for him.
While Ohio State was seen as a program in turmoil a few short months ago, you would be hard pressed to find more optimism surrounding the future of a program elsewhere.
The Buckeyes' future is bright and now it is safe to say that their slip ups won't deliver a blow to their recruiting.
