Bowl Projections: How the BCS Bowl Games Will Shake out
The BCS Bowl picture became much clearer this past week as teams fell, climbed or maintained their national positions. The BCS system has apparently done well this season, but it will never be as perfect as a playoff system would be.
That is a fantasy, and the reality is the current format. Here are the projections for the BCS Bowl games:
Rose Bowl:
Wisconsin vs. Oregon
This will be an excellent game. Oregon should destroy UCLA, especially after what USC just did to the Bruins. Wisconsin will have a tougher game in a rematch with the Michigan State Spartans, but I believe they will avenge their painful regular-season loss.
Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma State vs. Stanford
The committee won't be able to resist pairing Andrew Luck in a potential shootout. A head-to-head matchup with Brandon Weeded and the Cowboys could be great football TV.
The Cowboys should win Bedlam, as there are too many injuries for the Sooners.
Sugar Bowl
Michigan vs. Houston
The best thing that happened to the Sugar Bowl was the Wolverines' win over Ohio State. It justified placing them in the game in light of the fact that the top two SEC teams will play for the BCS title.
Orange Bowl
Clemson vs. West Virginia
The Tigers will rebound from their embarrassing loss to NC State and defeat the Hokies for the Orange Bowl berth. West Virginia will likely make it through the mess in the Big East.
BCS Title Game
LSU vs. Alabama
Everyone is prepared for the rematch, but the Georgia Bulldogs will have something to say about this game. If the Bulldogs win, it could impact multiple bowl games.
I am almost ready to pull the trigger on a upset pick in the SEC Title game, but not quite. I am officially predicting things stay status quo.
