BCS Bowl Projections: Predicting Who Gets the BCS Auto Bids After Week 13

Matt ShetlerNov 26, 2011

Week 13 of the college football season is about in the books, and that means the BCS picture has become just a little bit clearer.

With only Conference Championship Week or possibly a computer glitch left to affect the BCS picture, we have a much better idea of where teams are going to land this week than we did just a few short weeks ago.

Here's a quick look at what team will eventually end up in each BCS Bowl game.

Orange Bowl

1 of 5

Projected Matchup: Virginia Tech vs. Louisville

The Hokies will avenge their only loss of the season by beating Clemson to win the ACC, and Louisville will end up winning the Big East after losing to both FIU and Marshall at home earlier in the season.

This looks like it is all set up to be another ACC-Big East snooze-fest.

Fiesta Bowl

2 of 5

Projected Matchup: Houston vs. Stanford

This poses to be a matchup of two of the best signal callers in the nation.

I'm sure the Fiesta Bowl wasn't what Andrew Luck had in mind when he skipped the NFL Draft and returned to school, but it will have to do.

As for Case Keenum and Houston, they played their way into the BCS, and the Fiesta Bowl seems like a good fit. The Fiesta Bowl has hosted some magic from an underdog program before.

Sugar Bowl

3 of 5

Projected Matchup: Michigan vs. Oklahoma State

The Sugar Bowl lucks out and gets a pretty good game. There won't be an SEC team to choose from, so they will have to settle for this.

Not a bad matchup name-wise at all.

Oklahoma State gets here by winning Bedlam, and the Wolverines gain an at-large bid by winning their 10th game of the season Saturday against Ohio State.

Rose Bowl

4 of 5

Projected Matchup: Oregon vs. Wisconsin

This one is a no-brainer.

The Badgers should avenge their Hail Mary loss to Michigan State next week in the first Big Ten Championship Game. If they don't, the Spartans will go right in this spot and Wisconsin will be left out of the BCS.

As for Oregon, they will get a less-than-spectacular opponent in the Pac-12 Championship Game, so a trip to the Rose Bowl is all but in the bag.

BCS Championship Game

5 of 5

Projected Matchup: LSU vs. Alabama

After this week, this matchup looks all but inevitable. Whether you are in favor of a rematch for the BCS Championship or not, under the current system, this is what we've got.

The two best teams in the nation are supposed to meet in the BCS Championship Game, and it's really hard to argue against LSU and Alabama being those two teams.
