Urban Meyer Ohio State: Sources Confirm Coaching Great Has Accepted Buckeyes Job
Urban Meyer will be the next coach of Ohio State—according to The Columbus Dispatch. The newspaper reports learning of this information from two "well placed sources."
The report adds that the move is expected to be announced next week as the two sides still have to finalize terms of the contract such as length of contract and financial remuneration.
The news certainly comes as no surprise. Meyer and Ohio State have been connected since Jim Tressel resigned while embroiled in scandal just prior to the season.
These connections turned into full-fledged rumors when over this past weekend there were reports that he had agreed to take the job.
Meyer denied these reports while in the ESPN broadcast booth on Saturday saying, "I've not been offered any job, and I've certainly not accepted any job."
This move is a natural fit. He is an Ohio native, and began his career as a graduate assistant on the Ohio State staff.
Meyer is one of the most well-respected coaches in college football. He has compiled a 104-23 record in a 10-year coaching career.
Meyer's prowess as a coach had him quickly climbing the coaching ladder. He went from Bowling Green to Utah and then to Florida.
Meyer found the ultimate triumph at Florida winning two national titles while with the Gators.
