Heisman Trophy Odds: Baylor Bears QB Robert Griffin III Is Moving Up the Board
The Heisman Trophy futures market has been very volatile over the last couple days, and Baylor Bears star Robert Griffin III has been the benefactor of that movement.
Bettors have had some time to digest the junior signal-caller leading the program to its first-ever win over the Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday night, finishing with 479 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Griffin III still remains as the third-choice in the wagering, but his odds have fallen dramatically lower from +800 to +250 over the past two days.
He draws a favorable opponent to help his candidacy even further in Week 13, matching up with a Big 12 Conference squad that ranks 114th in the country in allowing 473.6 yards of offense.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders allowed Oklahoma State Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden and Oklahoma Sooners pilot Landry Jones to combine for 835 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with just one interception.
It's unfortunate that this particular contest isn't being played inside Floyd Casey Stadium, as Griffin III has thrown for 21 touchdowns and no interceptions in six home games.
Cowboys Stadium isn't a bad venue for the Baylor offense to showcase its incredible balance, coming in as the only college football program to average 300-plus passing and 200-plus rushing yards during the 2011 campaign.
Oddsmakers have established the Bears as 12.5-point neutral-site favorites, which could be an opportunity to wager on the underdog, as the Red Raiders are 15-0 in this series during the Big 12 era.
Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck (-200) and Alabama Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson (+175) are still the top two candidates in terms of market share, but the dual-threat quarterback out of Copperas Cove, Texas, is positioned to walk away with the hardware.
