Urban Meyer Rumors: Latest Twitter Buzz Surrounding Meyer to Ohio State

Alex KayNov 22, 2011

Urban Meyer is going to coach Ohio State next season.

It’s just way too obvious after his current employer, ESPN, was compelled to release a statement saying,

"

“We felt the studio in Bristol was the best place for him given the many storylines and top matchups going on in college football this weekend,” ESPN spokesperson Mike Humes said. “He can offer commentary about the season, contribute to GameDay from ESPN studios and also help preview and review the significant games on the schedule.”

That might make some modicum of sense if Dave Pasch and Chris Spielman, the two men he regularly shares a broadcast booth with, weren’t heading to Ann Arbor for the Michigan versus Ohio State game.

ESPN just did not want to take away from the game with constant tension looming over Meyer about his seemingly all-but-made decision to join the Buckeyes.

If you still don't believe it, look at the statement he made back in May.

"

I am committed to ESPN and will not pursue any coaching opportunities this fall. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the people at ESPN this spring and remain very excited about my role with the network this fall.

"

Two times he stressed this fall. Now that the season is over, it’s time for him to make a decision, and it won’t be easy but it won’t be hard.

People have a lot of opinion on Meyer and his decision on where he should coach after he retired suddenly with two national championships under his belt at Florida.

He is easily the best available coach, and fans and analysts have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions. Here are some of the better ones out there right now.

The ‘FauxJohnMadden’ commented that Meyer joining OSU would make the Browns the second best college football team in their state.

Makes sense considering they are using Colt McCoy at QB and a bunch of no name fill-ins at RB and WR.

Colin Cowherd is getting annoyed that Meyer is being so coy about whether he is going to take the Buckeyes coaching job.

It really is like cashing a lottery ticket as that is a dream job for many people and also pays like a winning ticket.

Albert Breer is urging people not to hate on Meyer for considering this Ohio State position.

It must be hard for Florida to deal with losing the man who won them two national titles and brought us Tebow, but they should be just fine with Will Muschamp despite a bad season.

Charles Robinson is explaining why Meyer would like the Buckeye job more than any other in CFB.

The former Gator coach was born in Ohio and started his college-coaching career at Ohio State, just like Williams was born in NC, played at UNC and started his college career at UNC.

If Urban for some reason does not decide to fill Jim Tressel’s vest, ‘NotJoePa’ said he would fit in just fine at Penn State.

While that’s a pretty mean joke, it’s true that the UF program did suffer some legal problems during his tenure, but nothing to the extent of the Nittany Lions’ scandal.

With all of those opinions weighed and ESPN’s sheltering of Meyer from the OSU game this weekend, it’s looking clear he will soon be announced their next head coach.
