Ranking the Hottest and Latest NBA Player Signature Shoes to Come Out

Brian MaziqueNov 22, 2011

The NBA action has stopped, but the shoe companies haven't missed a beat. The Jordan Brand has especially been busy so far this fall, and there are still plenty of shoes planned for release in November.

The re-release of the Jordan III will be a big seller when it drops on November 25th. As of now, LeBron James, John Wall, Derrick Rose and others have injected their likeness and charisma into several new kicks.

Here is a ranking from worst to first of some of the more interesting and awesome pairs recently released.

10. Under Armour Micro G Bloodline Hunter: Brandon Jennings

1 of 10

Almost nothing about this design says basketball. Forget the fact that the color scheme picture is a Miami Hurricanes-flavored version. The shoe looks like a cross-trainer.

That big ridiculous strap across the laces is pretty bad. Under Armour obviously needs some help with sleek basketball designs.

These kicks ensure Brandon Jennings will be the worst-outfitted young star in the NBA.

9. Jordan CP Too Quick: Chris Paul

2 of 10

These are hideous to me. They look like something Michael Jackson would have worn in a video for a song from the Bad album.

Many of the Jordan Brand designs of late have a real cheap look to them; stay tuned. These ugly suckers are going for $110. Really, Mike?

8. Nike LeBron 9: Ohio State: LeBron James

3 of 10

These are hilarious to me in so many ways. The obvious Ohio State colors are interesting, seeing how most people in the state hate the King's guts.

On a personal note, though I've always hated Ohio State, I love the color combination. Still, I hate the design of this shoe. It looks like an instep problem waiting to happen.

7. Adidas AdiRose Zero2011: Derrick Rose

4 of 10

Though I love D-Rose, this doesn't even look like a basketball shoe. It is far too busy for my taste, and patent leather in excess on a basketball shoe is a turnoff for me.

Nonetheless, some poor sap will have this footprint in his chest when Rose is finally unleashed on the rest of the NBA again.

6. Jordan Brand Melo M8: Carmelo Anthony

5 of 10

This color saved this shoe in my opinion. The Knicks-themed shoe looks like a Pro Wings knockoff.

The dark grey color here makes the shoe look more serious, and the design is one I like. It is retro and basic, the way I like it.

5. Reebok Zig Encore: John Wall

6 of 10

This second version of the John Wall Reeboks is even better than the first. It is a nice hybrid design between the contemporary and retro look I prefer.

I have worn these Reebok Zig design and technology shoes, and I love the way my landings feel in them. I am a big fan.

If the season could start, Wall is a star waiting to happen. He could help usher Reebok back into relevance on the basketball sneaker scene.

4. Reebok AdiPower 2: Dwight Howard

7 of 10

The color scheme just says fresh and aquatic, and I'm digging that. I like this shoe a lot, but the color distribution is especially tight. It is a very plain model, but that isn’t a bad thing in my book.

It is also made for the guy with huge hooves like myself, so I’m a little biased. This shoe removes me of a slick screen saver.

3. Jordan Brand TC Obsidian

8 of 10

Despite MJ's recent anti-player overtures (yes, I do realize he's an owner now), I still am partial to the retro look the TCs deliver. It isn't being worn by a specific player, but I liked it too much to leave out.

The new Obsidian color is a cool dark contrast to the grey versions that released in May. I know many may find this one too plain, but it is an excellent throwback design.

2. Nike Zoom Kobe VI: Kobe Bryant

9 of 10

These are among my favorite sneaks in a while. I especially love the red and white ones pictured. I am a big fan of low-top and mid-top basketball shoes.

The VI does a great job of staying basic and has a splash of style with the snakeskin—appropriate for the Black Mamba.

1. Jordan Brand Big Ups

10 of 10

The Big Ups are sick, in a good way. The red soles make the shoe pop and offer a ridiculous amount of support. Looking at these makes me wanna go ball.

The best quality is that they look like they could easily have been in MJ's playing days collection. The design is impeccable.
