BCS Rankings: Penn State and Teams on the Rise

While the past few weeks have been terrible for Happy Valley, Penn State and other schools have climbed in the BCS rankings this week.

With eight teams in the top 25 losing in Week 12, there was bound to be an upheaval in the rankings and sure enough there was.

The following teams won this week and with a little help from their friends, climbed up in the rankings.

Penn State—As the program tries to return to its normal way of doing business, the football team is fighting for a chance to win the Big-10 Conference championship.

With a win over Ohio State this week, Penn State is one win away from a date with the conference title game.

The now No. 20 Nittany Lions will have to beat Wisconsin to both improve their position in the rankings and qualify for the Big-10 championship.

Baylor—Oklahoma was talking about how they deserved to be No. 2 after the Oklahoma State loss when all they should have been worrying about was beating Baylor.

The Golden bears beat the Sooners in an amazing game that saw some of the best back and forth action of the season.

Robert Griffin III is still one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in college football. As long as he is at the helm, Baylor has a chance to continue climbing.

USC—The USC Trojans may be barred from bowl games this season, but that won’t stop them from leaving their imprint on the BCS title hunt.

After beating the Oregon Ducks in a slug-fest, the Trojans moved to 9-2 on the season and claimed the No. 10 spot in the BCS rankings.

The jump is one of the biggest any team has done this season, but it is well deserved. The USC Trojans may not get a bowl bid, but they would if it weren’t for the sanctions.
