BCS Bowl Predictions: Wild Upsets Make Alabama Bigger Title-Game Lock Than LSU
Three top-5 teams watched their BCS title dreams crash and burn this weekend and ironically, Alabama is more of a lock to hold down one of the spots in the BCS title game than undefeated and still No. 1 LSU.
Oklahoma State losing to Iowa State on Friday put the No. 2 spot up for grabs. The logical teams who could have made a run at that spot were one-loss juggernauts Oklahoma, Alabama and Oregon.
With Oklahoma losing to Baylor and Oregon falling against USC, Alabama is the only horse remaining in the race for the chance to square off against the Tigers in the ship.
Alabama faces a ranked Auburn team on the road to close out the season, but Auburn is going to fall victim to a tough SEC opponent once again and add a fifth loss to their record.
Finishing with one overtime loss to LSU, Trent Richardson and Alabama are a lock for the championship. LSU's fate remains less certain.
The Tigers have to take on a No. 6 Arkansas team whose only loss came on the road against Alabama. The Razorbacks have a chance to come out of absolutely nowhere to steal a spot away from the Tigers.
It's crazy to think that this game has become a play-in game for the BCS title game, but a wild weekend last week has made it so.
The Razorbacks are exponentially tougher than Auburn. While it looks like we're going to see a rematch of the defensive spectacle we all saw between Alabama and LSU earlier in the season, the Tigers are more likely to fall this week than the Crimson Tide.
It's a stretch, but an LSU loss would be a fitting ending to the most unpredictable season imaginable.
