BCS Bowl Projections: The 5 Best BCS Title Matchups

William PenfieldNov 20, 2011

With three of the Top 5 teams losing yesterday, the likely matchup for the BCS National Championship game has once again become Alabama vs. LSU.

But is that one of the better matchups that we would like to see?

Let's take a look at five very intriguing potential matchups that would make for an entertaining BCS National Championship game.

Alabama vs. LSU

1 of 5

Many people will complain about a rematch between the two teams who already faced off in the "Game of the Century" but the simple fact is that these are the two teams most deserving of a BCS National Championship bid.

The first time the two teams met there wasn't a single touchdown scored, which makes for somewhat of a boring football game, but isn't it about seeing the two best teams in the country face off against each other?

As of right now, the two best teams look to be Alabama and LSU.

LSU vs. Oregon

2 of 5

These two teams played in the first game of the season, and Oregon was trounced, 40-27.

But Oregon is a much better team now, despite laying an egg against USC last night.

A matchup between one of the most high-powered offenses in the game and one of the best defenses in the game would sure be one to watch, although it is very unlikely after the Ducks lost their second game of the season.

Alabama vs. Oklahoma State

3 of 5

This is a matchup that we have not yet seen this  year and it would be a fun one. One of the nation's top defenses vs. one of the nation's top offenses.

The Cowboys put up 49.8 points per game and the Crimson Tide allow just 8.4 points per game.

SEC people would say that the Cowboys have no shot, but it would certainly be exciting to see Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon face off against the Tide defense.

LSU vs. Oklahoma State

4 of 5

Like the Alabama-Oklahoma State matchup, this game would pit one of the best offenses against one of the best defenses in the nation.

Justin Blackmon going up against the much heralded secondary of Tyrann Mathieu and Mo Clairborne would be something to watch.

LSU's defense would be tested by a high-powered offense for the first time since the beginning of the season against Oregon.

The Cowboys would certainly be the underdog but it would certainly be an entertaining matchup.

Oklahoma State vs. Oregon

5 of 5

To be honest, I think this would be the most exciting matchup possible in the BCS National Championship game.

Two of the most high-powered offenses in the league facing off against each other would make for one high-scoring game.

The Cowboys rank No. 2 in the nation in scoring and the Ducks rank No. 3 in the nation in scoring.

This matchup is virtually impossible but a game between two offenses such as this would sure draw a lot of viewers.
