Bowl Projections: What the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and BCS Title Games Will
Week 11 of the college football season provided us with more great games and shocking upsets. The upsets included teams that not only had BCS hopes but could possibly win the BCS National Championship. Last weeks BCS rankings were turned upside down as only three teams in the Top 10 stayed the same.
If college football has shown us anything, it's that, just when you think you've figured it out, everything changes.
Although there is still a lot of football to be played, we have a good idea of where each team will end up in the BCS Bowls.
Here are the projections for all of the BCS Bowls heading into Week 12.
Rose Bowl: Oregon Ducks vs. Wisconsin Badgers
1 of 5How I got this matchup: This bowl hosts the No. 1 teams from both the Pac-12 and the Big Ten. The Ducks are now the front-runner for the Pac-12 title and the Badgers got a ton of help last week from Penn State and Ohio State.
Of course the Ducks will probably have to beat Arizona State in the Pac-12 Championship and the Badgers will have to beat Michigan State. Neither are going to be easy tasks but these two teams are the better of the four.
If this matchup does in fact happen, I hope you enjoy offense. There will be a lot of it.
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Stanford Cardinal
2 of 5How I got this matchup: The loser of the Oklahoma/Oklahoma State game will end up in this spot. Stanford will still make a BCS bowl game by finishing 11-1 despite losing to the Oregon Ducks.
The Sooners are capable of matching the Cowboys points but they also have a better defense that will make it more difficult for Oklahoma State. Stanford doesn't really have anybody left on their schedule so they should be fine the rest of the way.
If this game does happen, this would be another game that would be a high-scoring affair. A lot of NFL potential on both teams and it would be a must watch because it'll probably be Andrew Luck's last game in a Stanford uniform.
Sugar Bowl: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Houston Cougars
3 of 5How I got this matchup: The Sugar Bowl will take the No. 1 SEC team not playing in the title game, which will be Alabama. The door also opens up for Houston since the Boise State Broncos lost this week to TCU.
Of course the LSU-Arkansas game will play a huge part in who goes where as far as the SEC is concerned. Houston has an easy schedule in the C-USA and should be one of the few teams to run the table this season.
The Houston Cougars have one of the top offenses in the country, and Case Keenum has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks the last five seasons. But the Cougars have yet to see a defense of the caliber of Alabama's being in the C-USA.
This is going to be either an interesting matchup or a one-sided blowout.
Orange Bowl: Clemson Tigers vs. Cincinnati Bearcats
4 of 5How I got this matchup: Clemson is the favorite to win the ACC, while somebody has to win the Big East so the Bearcats will probably be in that spot.
The Tigers should have no problem winning the ACC as they will probably play Virginia Tech, who they've already beaten 23-3 earlier this season. Cincinnati looks like they'll win the Big East ,but Rutgers and West Virginia still have a shot.
This has got to be the most uninteresting matchup out of all the BCS bowl games and in large part because of Cincinnati. The Clemson Tigers offense will make this game fun for a quarter or two but this game really lacks anything special.
National Championship: LSU Tigers vs. Oklahoma Sooners
5 of 5How I got this matchup: LSU will likely win out, and if Oklahoma runs the table it will probably jump up to No. 2 based off strength of schedule.
Alabama and possibly Oregon will have a strong case as well against Oklahoma but when you compare resumes the choice really isn't that hard. LSU could lose to Arkansas or even Georgia in the SEC Championship but I'm giving the Tigers the benefit of the doubt. They haven't lost yet, so there's no reason to pick against them now.
This game would feature an awesome matchup of the Sooners offense against the Tigers defense. It would also be an interesting chess match between Les Miles and Bob Stoops.
I know many would like to see a rematch between LSU-Alabama but this game shouldn't disappoint.
