Georgia Bulldogs Football: The 5 Best Players This Season
Before the season began, many believed the Georgia Bulldogs had the talent to win the SEC East.
With one last SEC game to play, the Bulldogs are one win away from reaching their goal, which is earning a right to be called SEC champions.
After a slow start, the Bulldogs have won eight consecutive games. Barring a miracle in Athens on Saturday when they play Kentucky, it will be nine consecutive wins by Saturday night.
Numerous players have stepped up and made plays when they needed to. But who are the players that have stood out more than the rest and made a name for themselves this season?
Here are the top five Georgia players so far this season.
No. 5: Isaiah Crowell, RB
1 of 5There is a toughness issue with Isaiah Crowell, but when he's on, he's very hard to stop.
So far this season, Crowell has 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He will likely become the first 1,000 yard rusher for the Bulldogs since Knowshon Moreno in 2008.
Once he's becomes more physically tough, he will be the most dangerous back in the SEC.
No. 4: Bacarri Rambo, S
2 of 5A couple years ago, we saw what Bacarri Rambo was capable of when he made play after play in the win against Auburn.
Now, Rambo is doing that on a consistent basis and leads the league in interceptions and passes defended.
Rambo has developed into an impact player and continues to get better each game.
No. 3: Malcolm Mitchell, WR
3 of 5I don't think any player from this freshman class has made more of an impact than Malcolm Mitchell.
Mitchell leads the team with 523 yards receiving and four touchdowns, despite missing nearly a month of action due to a hamstring injury.
Will he be next A.J. Green? Only time will tell, but he is on his way to having a stellar career.
No. 2: Jarvis Jones, LB
4 of 5The defense has really improved this season, and the reason for their turnaround is the play of linebacker Jarvis Jones.
Hailing from Columbus, Georgia, Jones is second on the team in tackles and leads the SEC in sacks and tackles for loss. Jones has brought his best in every game, and the the sky's the limit for what he can accomplish.
No. 1: Aaron Murray, QB
5 of 5Jarvis Jones could be the most valuable player on defense, but Aaron Murray has to be the team MVP.
After a very good freshman season, Murray has exploded this year with 27 touchdown passes. He also has the top passer rating in the conference and is second in the conference in passing yards per game and total offense.
If Murray is able to lead the Bulldogs to an SEC championship, he will be in the discussion for the Heisman trophy next year.
