NFL Week 11 Predictions: 3 Things That Will Have Sports World Buzzing

Richard LangfordNov 17, 2011

Tim Tebow is going to get destroyed in Week 11. He and the Broncos will find a wall of Jets defenders greeting their one-dimensional offense.

As is most things that Tebow does, this will have the sports world buzzing. But that isn't the only thing they'll be buzzing about from what is set to transpire in Week 11.

Tim Tebow's Grand Failure

Tim Tebow's success is threatening to take the NFL back to the dark ages. To the time when the forward pass was as mysterious flying saucers and television.

Tebow completed just two passes in his last start and attempted only eight. And the Broncos won! This has left everyone wondering if his option style attack can succeed in the NFL.

However, there is a reason teams don't run the option in the NFL. It doesn't work. Defenses are too fast and smart. With the game film mounting on Tebow, this one-dimensional attack will be figured out, and Rex Ryan is just the man to do it.

The Jets' rush defense is not what it once was, but they are still a respectable 15th in rushing yards allowed per game.

New York will stack the box. They have the corners to stop the Broncos' receivers one-on-one freeing the safeties to provide outside run support.

This will force Tebow to hold onto the ball on his read options, and get pounded over and over as the Broncos limp to three and outs.

The Jets will not only defeat the Broncos, but also the notion that Tebow's current style can succeed in the NFL.

Prediction: Jets 24, Broncos 0, and Broncos will muster only 113 yards on offense

Carson Palmer's Resurrection

Carson Palmer had a welcome back to the NFL party last Thursday with an ultra efficient 14-of-20, 299 yard performance.

There are still some doubters out there though, but not for long. This week he will cement that notion that he is not just back, but elite.

Palmer will be facing a Vikings secondary that is going to make this extremely easy for him.

CB Antoine Winfield was lost for the season last week. CB Chris Cook is away from the team while he deals with a felony domestic assault charge, and S Husain Abdullah will almost certainly be out after sustaining his second concussion of the season.

This leaves the Vikings with corners that should be struggling to make a roster let alone starting in the NFL.

And we are talking about a Vikings secondary that has struggled all year. They are 30th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game. They are also 25th in yards allowed per pass attempt.

That is a recipe for disaster going against a man that posted this stat last week:

The only time the Vikings have had any success is when Jared Allen and their pass rush has been able to disrupt the opposing passing offense. Given that the Raiders are second in the NFL in sacks allowed percentage, this will not be enough to help the Vikings slow down Palmer.

Prediction: Palmer 25-of-32, 337 yards, 3 TDs

Cowboys' Super Bowl Hopes

The Cowboys bandwagon is going to be standing room only following Week 11 after they demolish the Redskins.

The emergence of DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys rushing attack has led to two straight dominant performances by the Cowboys.

They are coming off of a 41-7 drubbing of the Bills, and looked better than they have all season.

This week they will take on a Redskins team that is falling apart by the minute. The 'Skins have lost five straight and they've looked awful in all of them. This fact is not lost on the Redskins own players.

Check out this quote by DT Barry Colfield:

Their defense, which started off great, is slipping. They are now 18th in rushing yards allowed per game, and 17th in yards allowed per carry. Murray and the Cowboys will exploit that.

DeMarco has rushed for at least 135 yards in three of his four starts and on the season he is averaging a mind boggling 6.7 yards per carry. You can expect similar numbers in this one.

You can also expect a Redskins' offense that has been crippled by injuries and bad QB play to continue to be awful.

The Cowboys weakness on defense is in stopping the run. They are 20th in yards allowed per rush. However, the Redskins will not be able to exploit this.

With the injury to Tim Hightower, Washington's rushing attack has disappeared. They are now 25th in yards gained per rush. This will force them into passing situations early and often. And that's not good.

Washington is 23rd in sacks allowed percentage while the Cowboys are 11th in percentage of plays where they register a sack. This will make a bad Rex Grossman, a horrible Rex Grossman.

After two straight blowouts, the Cowboys will be the dark horse Super Bowl flavor of the week.

Prediction: Cowboys 31, Redskins 10
