BCS Rankings Week 11: TCU and More Teams That Have Earned Top-25 Placement
Another week of NCAA action has come and gone. Yes, the upsets were alive this week, just like they are every other week of the year.
So, how do those upsets impact the top 25?
Well, let's take this from a positive perspective. These teams weren't ranked coming into the week. They deserve to be this Sunday.
TCU
This is not TCU's best team. That's abundantly clear, and I doubt that even the most ardent TCU supporters would deny that.
But just because you lose two games as a non-BCS conference team doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't one of the top 25 teams in the country. As a matter of fact, when you into Boise and win a game, that may well be enough to get the job done right there.
That's the win that TCU needed to get back into the rankings. They are now 8-2 with a huge win on the road against a team that just doesn't lose home games. If that doesn't scream top 25, what does?
West Virginia
While I know they lost their quarterback early in the contest, Cincinnati is an excellent football team. Going on the road and beating them is something to be proud of.
I know that West Virginia has been a horribly inconsistent team. That's just the way that life in the Big East is. There are good teams, but they don't always show it.
But when I think about West Virginia, I ask myself this question. Can more than 24 teams in the country beat them? I don't think so.
USC
Maybe more than any team on this list, the Trojans belong. I know that they are banned from postseason play this year, and that may keep voters from voting for them.
But this is a team with two losses to quality opponents. They have beaten good teams along the way.
Big wins over Washington and Notre Dame give USC the edge over both of those teams.
