Oregon vs. Stanford Football: Why Andrew Luck Will Obliterate Ducks Defense

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is the best player in college football, and he will destroy the Oregon Ducks defense on Saturday night when the two Pac-12 powerhouses meet in a game involving conference and BCS title implications.

The No. 4-ranked Cardinal are hoping to add another quality win to their BCS resume over No. 7 Oregon, and the Ducks' only loss thus far was a season-opening defeat to top-ranked LSU.

The Ducks are allowing just under 21 points per game this season, but against some very good offenses they have struggled a bit.

Oregon gave up 40 points to LSU, 31 points to a below-average Arizona team, 27 points to Arizona State and 28 to Washington State.

None of those teams have an elite quarterback close to the skills that Andrew Luck has. The Ducks will have a real battle on their hands Saturday night, and it's a battle they will not win.

Not only is Luck a great player, he has quality players around him.

He is protected by a good offensive line, he has fundamentally sound fullbacks who block for him exceptionally and Luck has a number of good pass-catching targets to throw to.

He has several NFL-caliber tight ends who have great hands, and are dependable red-zone targets.

Luck has the arm strength to make any deep throw, and is accurate enough to place a ball perfectly to a receiver who is double-covered.

Luck will be the best quarterback Oregon faces all season by far.

The Ducks have struggled at times defensively this season, and the last two times they played against good quarterbacks they have lost (Week 1 vs. LSU, and 2010 BCS title game vs. Cam Newton and Auburn).

Stanford will win big against Oregon on Saturday night and Luck will lead an offensive explosion that will prove that the Cardinal are an elite team in college football and worthy of a chance to play for the BCS National Championship in January.
